Maximum Allowable Front to Rear Diameter Difference?

What's the max difference in diameter between the front and rear tires before the ABS goes haywire?

1/2 inch. Might get away with a bit more, but it's a crap shoot.

I've always been told the allowable difference is 6% front-to-rear. But that is a pretty drastic difference if you're talking strictly about outside diameter. I wonder if they're talking about circumference? But either way, as SSMickey mentioned, most people usually try to stick to a maximum of about a 1/2" difference in diameter, which seems to work pretty well.

Thanks guys. I'm looking at a set of the Hankook RS-3 Version 2 tires. Staggered 285/315 setup. Diameter difference is aforementioned 0.5" (actually it's 0.6").
