What would you do...
Okay, I know there's a similar post to this, but I have a slightly different situation.
I went to the mall today with some friends. It was pretty packed and I decided to park as reasonably far as I could without having to make the girls walk too far. I could tell it was getting crowded, but I and my other friend's car went to the most vacant area available in that lot. He took one spot, while I took the 2 spots next to him. When we began walking to the mall, they began to mess with me saying I was gonna get keyed, wheels stolen (wtf?), etc. I was semi-worried but I've been doing this often with strict discretion at other lots. Luckily I came out 3 hours later from the movies at nighttime to see my Camaro the victim of none of the things my friends mentioned. This situation made me begin to wonder; IS THERE MORE RISK OF GETTING MY DOOR DINGED BY PARKING NORMALLY, OR GETTING KEYED BY SOME ANGRY A-HOLE FOR TAKING 2 SPOTS? |

Commits weekly crime

I would never key or damage ANY other persons car.
That being said, I think you do take more of a risk by taking two spots. Park with one side protected by an Island, and park as close to the island as possible. That's what I do. Parking in two spots is more likely to piss other people off. No need to provoke them. Keep the car between the lines...that's my motto.

I think taking 2 spots puts you at greater risk. Why not just park far away and take 1 spot.....taking 2 spots says "I think my car desereves these 2 spots cause I'm better than you in a single spot".

Never, ever take two spots...you're just asking for trouble (by taking two spots you're advertising that my car is better than yours and I don't want you to ding it...and you know what that does?).
Just find an end spot further out...and get an end spot where your passenger door is on the side where no one can park...chances are the car that does park next to you will get out on their driver side only and never open a door into your car. |

I agree as well, one spot only else you're risking some a-hole / kids wanting to "teach you a lesson" or something. I agree with the parking close to an island poster.

I park in the handicap parking due to being a disabled vet. I try to get in the ones that have that cushion between spots.
I may not look it, but ask my orthopedic surgeon. When it's cold or damp out my body reminds me of the metal that's in there. |

Like everyone said, no no to 2 spots. I hope people won't have to learn it the hard way.

Common misconception that people on here seem to follow with religious diligence: The chances of getting keyed if you double park are extremely minimal. Although it may make you out as an ahole, it gives people NO right to key you. It seems that people have adopted the mantra that if you double park it's fine for someone to key you.

Next time drop the weight off at the theater and park in a spot next to a curb. Thats what I do, my friend aren't immature or disrespectful to tease me like they did you, but for their convenience I will drop them off and then park the car. I even pick them up, they know I love the ride and they respect her and they appreciate my efforts to keep them comfortable at the same time.
