Where are all the high HP drag strip times?

With the exception of a few, where are the 1/4 mile times of all these monster builds that went on over the winter. The FI list should be littered with 9 and 10s with the amount of 6, 7 and 800RWHP builds.

I have read thread after thread of 600RWHP+ builds but very little 1/4 mile times with this power. Where are these guys hiding?

What's the logic behind spending so much money to make these cars totally bada$$ and never opening them up. Do shops make a glory dyno run and then dial everything back?

Sorry for the rant. Just a curious dude. MY FLAME SUIT IS NOW ON.

Most of the high hp cars have incapable drivers from what I've seen. For me, race season is just starting, because the northwest sucks..

I'm working on it jeez!. My race season is just getting going too. My take on your post is that say there are 100 600+rwhp cars and about 7 are caged and are actually legal to make a pass.

When mine is Supercharged and joins this class of monster Camaros, I will definitely be posting some awesome 1/4 mile times.

Come on Jamie you know your an exception.Your constantly pushing the envelope. Definitely not referring to you.

I'm talking these 600+ monsters that never see the track. Why bother. Do they have money to burn.

Not trying to bust b@lls just thinking via a thread

Does everyone currently on the fast list have a cage. NO.

Op, I've cone to the realization these cars are what I like to call "dyno queens" they make big hp numbers, but don't seem to run the number. I could give a crap less what hp my car makes, as long as it runs the number. I don't plan on dynoing my car any time soon. I'll just move ahead with my mods and run it at the track. Having 600rwhp doesn't mean shit to me when the damn thing runs low 12's or high 11's. If my damn car made that kind of power and ran 11.90's......I drive that pos in a ditch and walk home. Like I said before, the dyno hp bullshit doesn't mean anything, a dyno operator can skew results almost 100hp. But the timeslip is the smilemaker or heartbreaker. You don't think that some of these shops inflate their hp numbers? Wouldn't you if your customer just dropped 10 grand and it fell short of the number you promised? Flame away!

That's true. Most of the 10 second cars don't have a cage but I know a few cars that may clip the high 10'a that are being held back with no cage. Plus this year it seems the drag racing is off to a slow start.

Guy I work with has never been to the dyno. He has a 2011 mustang that runs 10.40@131 with minimal mods, but he is supercharged. No cage, runs at the track every weekend.

I asked him if he is gonna dyno his car. He feels the same way I do. If just a number. For some reason ls series motors seem to dyno lots of hp, but most don't run the number. For example, my third gen car with the old motor, dynoed 407hp. Ran mid to low 11's at 122mph. I've seen mostly where an ls motor has to make about 600hp to run the same. Why? No torque?

Maybe in LA you can get away with that but never in the North East. They warned me about valve stems and reteched the car after the first pass.

I won't argue that. And your car is one that runs the number. I respect that.

It's all about rubber meating the road... Dyno doesn't mean crap except for tuning. Suspension/tires and not being able to hook is usually left for last on a lot of these builds. Even the Hennessey cars aren't set up to go down the track.

Then there's roll cage and safety as already mentioned. I've been avoiding the cage like some people avoid the tune... but it's going to have to happen sometime soon.

Even with a 2.0 60' Someone with 700+ RWHP should still be in the 10's

I'm starting to believe this. Lot's of smoke and mirrors. But I'd be on the phone with my shop if supposedly my car had 600+ and I couldn't run better than high 11's low 12's.
