I can hardly wait until 2014; by then, the camaropermagrin will have faded somewhat,
and the 2012/13 Challengers will be on the used or leftover market and I may be able
to afford one and add it as a companion to my Camaro after having gotten rid of
my Ram 1500.

....ahhh, patience, patience.

I am a former Camaro SS owner.
Loved it but I am 51 hard to get in and out of.
I have a Limited SRT 392 on the way in white.
I dont plan on racing anyone and I have also owned a regular 6.1 SRT8 and it was fast enough. I am excited about the tuned suspension, that should be interesting along with some extra torque.
I like the Challenger but I think age has something to do with it.
Its big and comfortable to ride in. Weight does not matter at all to me.
I like both in the looks category.
I hope these HP wars continue but something tells me we are living on borrowed time with Muscle cars.. enjoy while we can.

Most of us play nice in here and we respect the other "ponies". Easy there I'm also 51. I agree with your other comments. Looked at the Challenger SRT8 first, but the price scared me away. So my brother bought one and calls it the Camaro Killer. Me and my sister have 2SS/RS's (RY, CGM)...

Isn't it 475 hp? Now what? 550 sets the mark for stock. And my RT can take a 2006 GTO...

Of course everyone will be abuzz, a lot of people here take their cars to the track, everyone always wants to beat the competition. so of course its news that the challenger is making that new competition.

and congrats on havin 2 muscle cars, love the sig. just wonder why the GTs have those boss stripes? its not a real boss haha, not knockin you, just wonder who at ford made that decision? maybe they were hinting that the boss was just around the corner next year haha

Thx, the stripes were a dealer add-on. I hope to add a Camaro (again) to the stable. Last one I had was a 73, wife had a 80 something.

Not bad I like the 2 special color combo schemes. 470 HP/TQ ain't bad either. Suspension Upgrade. White with Blue striped leather interior. Pretty darn cool!
Can't wait to see what Chevy has in store for Camaro for the 2012 model year between the SS and Z28!

I really DO like the car, but by the time you add dest. charges, tax, and all the preferred options, you're looking at about $10,000 more than what I paid for my 2011 1-SS R/S. What I paid is enough for a "toy".

Feature wise you cannot even compare a 1SS to an SRT8. SRT is nearly fully lodaed stocks (only options I believe are kicker sub, sunroof, manual tranny, and nav. It comes stock with touch screen head unit, leather, power seat, push button start, bluetoth, etc, etc.

All the info on the 2011 Challys here:

http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=226358

Mango Tango Pearl Coat is an interesting color. I don't know how I feel about it replacing Hemi Orange although it reminds me of Le Mans sunset when the 350Z came out I loved that color!

Make that post over in LS2GTO.com and see how they feel about that.

LS2 GTO = 400hp and 3700 lbs (that's more HP than an R/T and it weighs hundreds of pounds less). Given a skilled driver it will have no trouble beating an R/T. The list of bone stock LS2 GTOs that have run high 12s is very long.

come on dude, enough with the paper racing. its everytime the R/T is mentioned beating another car you spout out all these facts and figures on why its slow and going to lose...its close enough that its a drivers race. you can tell me what you've seen at your track, but i can tell you what i've seen at my track and what ive beaten with my R/T and its not going to matter. we all know that the lighter car with equal or more hp should win, but thats not how things work in the real world with different drivers.
