I got the replacement cover I bought on EBay. I took it apart and took a couple pictures. Your origional fob should be made the same way. Note: the fobs do not snap together. They are held together with a screw that is hidden by the Chevy emblem the back. Also the spring that flips the key out is the same spring that keeps the release button out. More than likely if your button still pushes but the left over key part does not flip they just didn't pretension the spring. You do that by rotating the cover a couple times before putting the two halves of the cover back together. I will be experimenting with my replacement cover to make something to use in place of the key part. But as of now I am going to opt out of the recall.

Shes a beauty! I am a bit prejudiced but I think the Victory Red 2013 is the perfect ZL1. The better looking rear end (over the 14s) and the Mylink.

Has anyone received an "Official" letter fro GM regarding the Fob recall? I have not received a letter yet, however my 2014 Camaro comes up in this recall on my Manage My Chevrolet.

Or don't take it in for something we don't need... I can't reach the key with my knee without sitting on the edge of my seat.

Obviously not every Camaro owner is going to be physically capable of kneeing the ignition out of 'run' without sitting in some totally unrealistic position. But that is apparently not the only possible cause (IIRC, hanging a lot of other keys and what-not off the switchblade is another).

What doesn't make much sense to me is merging the fob and the key in the first place, regardless of how it is actually accomplished. If you were to carry a spare house key, would you put it on the same ring as your "main" house key?

Right so like you stated having a lot of keys hanging off the ignition is an issue, but hanging the fob off the key isnt........

Like I've said more than once - why would you ever even want the fob on the same ring as the key? Just because that's the way the dealership will end up giving them back to you isn't a good enough answer; their needs are somewhat different from yours.

They have 60 days to send out the recall notices after the recall is announced.

Thanks. I kept thinking that it was a lot shorter than that.

was thinking about this because in all the news reports of GM switch problems I didn't see any mention of the HHR ignition switch problem just a year or two ago.
hopefully the camaro ignition switch is different from the HHR's, on the HHR it would stick in the on position without warning.

We had a customer with HHR's, I think starting around 2012 they started having the ignition key get stuck in the run position and unable to turn the engine off.
at first we would pull a fuse to shut it off and then tow it to the local chevy dealer we use.
but after a couple cars had this happen we set it up with the dealer to fix it immediately when it occured during business hours, the driver would just head straight to the dealer and they would change out the ignition switch while he waited.

I can go from the big bulky junk fob to a simpler key.
The top picture the keys will look like this after I get the recall. The bottom picture is the way it looks like now.
The key that on it now is a key that a chevy dealer for a contest. In the contest if the key fit lock set setupyou could $35,000.00.
