Cam Question / Cost

So I am thinking of putting a cam in. Right I have ARH 7/8 LT headers,SLP xpipe with LM II Axle-back, and CAI Inductions intake. Also some other mods, but they aren't relevant to this question. I am currently @ 420 to the wheels. Im looking to go for the high 400's so between 460-480. (maybe even break into the 500s?, but doubt thats possible with just a cam)

Which kind of cam should i look into? I daily drive her so I don't exactly want an aggressive racing Cam. So far I heard good things about the G6x3, but still don't know.

Also, how much would it roughly cost to have it installed? based on your experiences of course!

Thank you for the help!

well most of the aggressive cams get you in the high 400WHP range, my camaro only made about 450WHP but i can tell you it drives better for everyday then a g6x3 no doubt. but i could have gone with a bigger cam, so its a trade off.

it really comes down to the person, also once you get a cam you will notice the engine works differently and you will get use to it.

Arsenal11, I am going to assume you have a LS3 motor with the mods you listed an L99 won't make 420 at the wheels. Look at the February issue of Hot Rod magazine, I just got my issue today and they have an article about Comp Cams' LSXr cam for the rectangular port late model LS engines. The complete kit which the article describes where to get runs just under $1100, this will get you everything you'll need, springs and associated pieces for the springs, this price also includes new pushrods. This cam uses the 1 bolt stock sprocket and timing chain so if yours is in good shape you can use them. As far as the installation you'll have to get quotes from your local shops if you aren't going to do it for yourself. On the dyno they got an additional 74HP from this cam over the stock cam. Now if you have the L99 motor none of this applies.

He is going to change out his factory Cam with a more aggressive Cam for better HP. As mentioned about you can gain 74hp with just a cam swap in the LS3. great bang for the buck, it does void the warranty however....but who care right

I am happy with my Jannetty Racing 470 kit. Contact Ted and he should be able to square you away with the cam, valve train goodies, and tune. Rough idle, but still nice for a daily driver. Install price vary widely so I have no idea in your area. Car is a lot more fun now.

Same cam here. Love it and can't wait to see what it does with forced induction in the spring
