I don't know why we get the el-cheapo shoulder mounted shroud.....

And the Army gets the much more powerful arm mounted shroud.

The thing I like about the EOtech over the AP I'm looking at is the size. The EOtech is a little more compact, so it takes up less rail space. The disadvantage is that the battery life doesn't last nearly as long. Price isn't really a big difference between the two, so that doesn't matter.

This is like picking up mods for the car... so difficult to make a decision. Who is running these brands and what do you all have as a preference?
This is so much a matter of preference, but I run EOTechs on my ARs and my AUG. I love the open field of view, and two eyes open approach. I also like the 65 MOA ring with 1 MOA dot better than the single dot on the Aimpoint. I run a G33 magnifier for longer distances. 500 hours of use before replacing an easily obtainable lithium battery is a non-issue for me.

Again this is a choice you'll have to make for yourself, but you really can't go wrong with either one.

The field of view with dot and sight is too busy for me. I have flip down rear fixed front. I setup it up with a 1" riser but it rendered the iron sights useless. Solved that with a Larue quick detach which works fine to snatch it off really fast and holds zero time after time.
Not sure how old your sight is, but this issue was addressed years ago. I had a problem with an older model years ago. I called EOTech and they sent me a new battery holder for nothing. I'd recommend contacting them.

I have heard that about the EOtechs though about the cowitnessing. Do you have fixed iron sights? Mine are back up and flip, so I don't intend to use them normally. Once everything is sighted in, I don't think there is a need to run a red dot at the same time as lining up the iron sights to take shots.
The newer EOTechs do have 1/3 cowitnessing, but I think they're called backup iron sights for a reason. I personally don't like running optics and irons at the same time.

The Eotech came standard on my RRA Government Model LAR-15 (civilian version of the model produced for the DEA)along with surefire quad rail, surefire weapon light, hogue grip, rra 2 stage match trigger, 16.4 inch heavy barrel, Blackhawk sling ect. It was a hell of a package 5 years ago. And to think I paid $800 at a pawn shop for everything. It retailed for around $2300.00

Nice. Right now you can't even pick up a basic AR for $800.

That long ago there were some EOTechs having that problem, but I haven't heard of any of those recently.

It took AA batteries. Alot has changed since then. They still remain one of the toughest battle sights known to man; im sure of that.

A Windham Weaponry SRC. California compliant of course. Cuz... that's how we roll over here. If the zombies ever come, I have to find two democrats to run with me. One to depress the bullet button when I have to reload, and the other to constantly reload the 10-rnd mags by hand. All the while, I'll be telling them: "This is your fault..."

Anyway, it's a nice gun at a good price, especially considering all the price gouging right now.
