I'm still waiting for TAG to chime in, since it came from him... Just curious where he got the info

Tag might have some inside knowledge that hasn't been shared with the dealers yet..

I was told (about 2 months ago) something to the effect of, "we are still working on getting the ABL for the dash finished. Obviously, it won't be ready for the first model year. However, it should be ready for the 2011 year models. With that, we will also need ABL dash upgrade kits for all the first model year Camaros. There will be a pretty big demand, so we know we have to get it done." That was basically the conversation. Who said it? Dude...I'm not going to put that person on the spot. But, I would not say it if it were not from a reputable source. As we have learned up to this point, anything can happen. I'm placing my bets on a front dash kit being offered up some time next year. I WILL be purchasing one of these kits so I can properly upgrade what should have been done on ALL 2010's.... I KNOW what I heard as there were only TWO people in the conversation. But, REMEMBER...... Until this is verified by someone from GM typing on our boards, take this as a "most likely to happen" type situation. If it doesn't happen, I told you it wasn't confirmed. |

I was told By Cheryl and John in last weeks IDL when I asked the question directly. Dash glare is a concern, so it will be continued to be limited to the doors only.

Seems as this could be a saftey concern while driving! It would be kind of cool though if it would light up while parked....either in Park or netural. But, I can understand the glare off of the windshield while driving!

So why is it on the dash on the CTS? It's not a glare concern on that car?

I hope this thread doesn't turn into another ambient lighting fiasco...
I was just wondering what TAG was talking about when he mentioned the kit. That has been addressed, so I think this thread can be closed now. Unless people want to discuss whether or not they would buy the upgrade kit, if it were to be offered... in that case, maybe a poll could be added. But we don't need another "ABL war" thread... |

The Camaro's is on the top of the dash and as low as you sit in the car, the ABL is well within the drivers peripheral vision. |

Sounds like a dealer/warranty issue to be fixed

Well, I'll buy the kit if it is in fact offered. The light isn't that bright... I think it completes the interior. Shoot....make it a customer controlled option to where you can turn on the light or turn it off if it gets to be distracting. Very simple to include an on/off switch.
