Dealer Mark up,Dealer cars,Gm's idea working?
Our Dealer got his LT2 RS in yesterday morning so lastnight I meet my Wife there to see the Camaro (Silver) for the first time.......... We were blown away, our expectations were very high and we still were blown away! This car is a thing of beauty and pictures do no justice! So before we leave, our order plans that were six months away got bumped to Tuesday night! Tonight my son took his girlfriend to see it and it was leaving. It seems a Local family was going to buy a red LT from the Cody Dealer and wanted $2500 over MSRP.They heard my Dealer had this one and came and bought it. I called the Sales Manager (a friend of mine)at my Dealer to give him grief because they were worried the V6's wouldn't move off the lot.....they were wrong.Getting they car to the dealer for sure worked to sell us a car but are other Dealers sitting on these V6's or selling them at first chance? BTW,we are ordering Tuesday but want want a Summit White/Orange stripes RS/SS m6 w/orange interior. I know whites not available but I want to get in line and we'll change the color later.............How do you guys sleep? After seeing my first one I didn't sleep at all last night!

I am surprised that there is even a Camaro in Wyoming. I bet the whole state was not even allocated more than 30. This is no stab at Wyoming, which is one of the most beautiful states IMO, but just a opinion due to the population of the state with the lowest population in the United States.

Local dealer got a Red 1LT and it lasted all of an hour on the showroom floor. That is WITH a $5k mark-up.
You think GM is on to something with this car?

I guess my question is in these tough economic times and being a credit buyer for a finance/leasing company back in the day- - what financial institution in their rabbit mind would finance a car thousands over the retail value?? What GAP insurance would want to cover a idiotic move by a customer so eager to pay that much over MSRP??? I never feel sorry for anybody too irresponsible to know better.
To all those paying more than MSRP- -you better ask about GAP insurance--by the way my wife says dealers have been marking those up too,(her company dropped 1 of them for doing that)

My wife and I are the ones buying the SIM 2LT/RS in Powell. Story was pretty close except that we are east of Powell. We were on our way to Cody to order a Camaro from the dealer over there at msrp. They had already told me they were going to charge over msrp on the LT they had gotten. Then on Friday we are on our way over to order and salesman calls and tells me his manager will only order at $2500 over msrp. So, told him I wouldn't be buying from them. Decided to head over anyway and check out the one they had so could finally see one in person. Didn't know they had received theirs in Powell yet. On the way, drove past the one in Powell and went back to check it out figuring that it would be spoken for already or have the price jacked up. It wasn't taken and it was at msrp!! Took it for a drive and loved the car!! Couldn't take it home that night since the bank was closed. So, we put a down payment on it and they locked it up in the shop. Heading over tomorrow to get everything done and pick her up!! Has to be the longest three day weekend ever. I wasn't in a very good mood after the mark up to order one in Cody, but the day ended pretty damn good. The guys in Powell were great.

I was working with the salesman at the Cody dealership to get msrp on a car that I would be ordering. His manager decided that they would only let me order the car for $2500 over msrp. They have the same mark up on the LT they received.
The dealership in Powell had their car at msrp. It is the same I was going to order except for the color. Which isn't a problem because I really like how the SIM looked in person. |
