Destination charge?

I ordered my 1SS 1LE AGM Recaros NPP and rear camera about a week ago. This waiting thing sucks so I find myself on this site everyday lol. Has anyone had any luck not paying the $995 destination fee??

No, it's required....They charge the same destination charge no matter if it's transported 5 miles or 5000 miles.

That's what I figured. Think there's any chance my car arrives before Christmas? I'm thinking the holidays might slow the production process. That would be the best damn Christmas present of all time!

I'll say Maybe, if you got it in before the 1LE order hold date you may get it. Last year they held up shipping during the winter because of the summer only tires. They are doing it again this year and if yours gets delayed for some reason it may be spring before you get it.

Yeah I read about that. I thought as long as I ordered before November 19th I would be fine considering that's when they plan to suspend orders...

Yeah that's why I'm hoping it's done by mid December. It was queued for production on Tuesday (11/12) for whatever that's worth.

Since yours is already built (hopefully) I would say you should get yours then. Unless they have a freak blizzard before then.

Destination is up to a grand now? It was barely $500 on my Oldsmobile just 10 years ago. What a scam.

Fuel prices are a lot higher now than 10 years ago.
In 2003 Diesel fuel averaged about $1.50 a gallon, today it averages $3.80....

Five years ago, destination was closer to $700, and fuel was almost $1 a gallon more.

that $1 more was not for the entire year though, that only lasted about 5 months, it actually went down to near $2.00 a gallon by the years end.

The year before though it was much lower and that is what the destination charges for 2008 were based on. What were they in 2009 when the price went back down some.
Right now fuel prices are over double what they were in 2003 but destination charges have not doubled.

Still, if a ton of freight can be moved about 450 miles on a gallon of fuel (a commonly used stat), then even if they shipped it 2000 miles on average, they still only have about 30 bucks of fuel in it, even at today's prices. So even with fuel prices doubling from a few years ago, that's only an extra $15 on fuel.
