What GM needs to address is the huge gap between the SS & ZL1. 1LE is just a track pack SS really, from what I read on the release info of the 1LE is that the 1LE is going to leave things to be desired compared to a Boss 302 in the performance department. Better suspension and such is great but the HP has to be better as well, maybe not 550 hp worth like the ZL1 but at least 460-500 range.

So far from the info GM is releasing the 1LE is just as fast or faster than a Boss 302 LS on a race track. But of course we will need to see the real numbers. At the drags the suspension changes may give the SS a tenth or two. So the Boss will still be king of the drags. In the real world 5.0 Mustangs and SSes are competitive at the drags. The 5.0 is capable of better numbers, but the 302 is more peaky than the Chevy engines. It's a driver race, with good drivers in both the Mustang has an edge. Of course the LS7 would fix that. One problem I see with the proposed Z28 is that it would perform pretty close to a ZL1 given it's 200 pound advantage. Those two cars would cannibalize each other's sales and most likely would only be say maybe $5k apart. Of course if you want big HP potential there would only be one choice.
