factory underbody touch up
Ok guys, did a search but came up empty.
I am looking for a factory color match underbody paint to touch up some rock chips/dings. It would be great if GM offered this as I know the factory coat is a corrosion inhibitor as well. Aftermarket would work if the color/gloss was comparable. thanks |

Why would you want to paint the under carriage? (or are you talking about the primer + base coat+ clear coat)
- trying to get a better understanding here.. A lot of times its really hard to blend touch up's since the surrounding paint has already faced deterioration /fade/oxidation from every day use.. so unless you go for a full panel repaint + blending there's no other way to cover it up.. If your looking for touch up paint, it should be available at your dealership..your car's VIN would help with the paint code selection. Trying to apply some clear coat as well once you touch up stone chips.. |

I am referring to the factory coating applied to the under body of our cars. It is the same color regardless of exterior paint color.
More than just a primer, it protects the galvanized layer on the sheet metal. Do not want to paint the underside of my car, just touch up some spots where the factory coating has been damaged. |

PPG DP40LF epoxy primer would be close. Sheen is right, too. It is green/grey. DP50LF is grey and DP90LF is black if you are really trying to shoot for an exact match by blending. You will need DP401LF catalyst for it to harden correctly. Epoxy primers are excellent corrosion inhibitors.
