How to remove/fill a deep scratch?
I screwed up, everybody.
A few days ago I was removing my rear bowtie. The bowtie came off clean but left this foam like adhesive on the paint. (I think it's new for the '14s) I grabbed a plastic spudger and used it to slice across the middle, sprayed label and adhesive remover on it, and spent an hour cleaning it all off. After cleaning it all off and wiping it I noticed I left this scratch. http://imgur.com/a/6s9Rd I didn't think a spudger could leave this kind of scratch, but it did. These photos were taken after my attempt of felling it with compound, polish, and wax. It helped a little by thinning the scratch but it's still very noticeable. I went to autozone looking for scratch filler but they didn't have any. So I'm going to ask you nice people. I am DEFINITELY NOT going to a body shop. My bro's truck was recently keyed and it's gonna cost him $500. The scratch obviously isn't worth $500 but I don't wwant to spend a lot of money. I'm looking for an home remedy/product out there to help with this. I think the scratch has gone through the clear coat, but not the paint. This is a total guess. So, finally, what should I do? And before anyone says it, yes, I am a complete moron for screwing this up. |

Is the scratch in a location that will be covered by the installation of the bowtie? And FYI...they've been using 3M adhesive for quite some time on emblems and lettering. Should have just used your finger tips to get the big globs off and Ronsonol or similar product to cut the residue with a clean rag.

Yeah I used my fingertips and a terry cloth for most of it, I just need to get into the adhesive to remove it. That's where the spudger came into place. |

It looks like it is in the clear coat so you could try a duplicolor touch up pen for clear. Honestly if it's a lease and the bow tie will hide it I would just leave it rather than risk making it worse with the diy fix

It's not like I'm going to wet sand because of this little baby scratch. I just want to fill it up so I can't see it as easily. Thanks for the help. |

Does anyone know if the Duplicolor All-in-1 has Summit White? They had a paint code for "Arctic White" in the GM section of the pens at Autozone. Is that basically Summit white?

Not sure. But if those paint pens are cheap enough just apply a piece of scotch tape on an area and paint a line over it to test it out before applying.

Yeah the new dupli color touch ups all come with paint on one side and some clear on the other add just the clear then buff down the over fill. or you can check I know there is a kit for filling bigger scratches that comes with a chemical to remove the over fill within 12-24 hours.

Alright, cool. I heard the pens usually blob up and sit on top of the paint instead of filling it, then you have to wet sand it down. Is it the same for the clear coat side? I'm not very comfortable with sanding down new factory paint and I don't have any 2500-3000 grit sand paper on me right now.
