I'm just wondering if I just need to go with just 40 series mufflers and not a whole cat back. I think that would still hide the AFM like stock. Does anyone have a video of this config type? Just 40 Series mufflers with stock resonators and stock cats?

Thanks

The kit comes with super 44's. But you can get the 40's, magnaflow Xpipe and keep the 2.5 " piping ALOT cheaper and it sounds better with the xpipe. Sounds even better once you add a CAI and EVEN BETTER when you tune out the AFM!

Looking at flowmaster's website, it appears that the super 44 is louder than the 40 series. I think what I'll end up doing is calling a vendor or flowmaster directly to find out exactly which series muffler comes with the American Thunder exhaust kit.

thanks,

thanks,
The Flowmaster guys actually came onto this site in another thread and answered that question saying the mufflers used in the AMT setup were a slightly modified Super 44. Don't know where that thread is though...

WAIT...Found it. Here's the excerpt from the other thread:

Hi Jimmy,
Thank you for choosing Flowmaster. The only thing that we make specific for your car are the cat-back systems. All of our mufflers are universal and will require some fabrication to install on the vehicle. If you want to use an Original 40 series muffler, part # 42543 should be the closest to the stock setup. In the kits that we have for your car we use a modified Super 44 style muffler. The Super 44 will have less interior noise than the Original 40. Please let me know if you have anymore questions. Thank you.
Thank you for contacting Flowmaster.

I installed the AMT in my L99 about a month ago. When the AFM kicks in the drone is horrible. I covered the whole trunk with fatmat and it helped alittle. I'm thinking of putting back the stock resonator and just using the mufflers. I do not want to tune until after the warranty is up. I will post when I get it done.

The AFM drone is annoying to me at times, but not as annoying as that super-quiet stock exhaust. When you get on the throttle, it's worth it!

If possible, find somebody in your area, at a car show or meetup, that has this system so you can hear it in person.
