MKIII Supra

Picked up a project car a couple of weeks ago. I'm pretty stoked! It ran great when I picked it up, but not nearly good enough for what I have planned. It's a 1987 Toyota Supra 7MGE Targa. Come to find out it has plenty of go-fast parts already equipped. Eibach and Tokico matched springs and struts, RE1R Potenza's, R154 Transmission, LSD swap, HKS 75mm catback, and for some reason a single Adjustable AEM cam gear zero'd out Anyway, I've got plenty of parts on order, just waiting for them to come in. Should be done in time to catch the end of the Solo II season and the start of the Slush season. Maybe a few drifting events. I'm just happy to be back in the drivers seat again! Been autox'ing the Camaro but would really like to move into something a little lighter and less expensive to modify. Plus the visibility in the Camaro with my helmet isn't that great, especially when the helmet is hitting the roof liner Anyway, just wanted to share a few photo's with ya'll. I'm excited to get this thing done and on the road again!

Cellphone photo after I picked it up

Up on Jack stands.

HKS 75mm twin tip exhaust. Check out the mandrel bent piping. This is how Japanese market exhausts are supposed to look like (well, minus the rust and dirt ) Not all giant canister coffee can like.

I'd like to get one of the original Celica Supras (80's) and do a 2JZ swap on it.

Clean! Looks just like my N/A Supra. I've actually got 3 of them haha. 1 turbo and 2 non turbos. Fun cars, very comfortable as a daily driver.

That's a good looking car. I always liked the Japanese sports cars from the 80's.

Have fun with it.

Thanks guys! Currently the plan is to get it out and competing in the soloII and drift events. Throwing around the idea of doing the 7MGTE turbo swap or even a 2JZGTE. Gonna have tons of fun modding this thing!

Sweet! I too have a soft spot for the Mk3 Supra's, and the pre 89 N/A models are the lightest of the lot. Well, the hardtop models are anyway

Thanks! Canon 50D paired with a Tamron 17-50mm lens

I will definitely have more photos once I get this thing on the ground again. Found out that the previous owner swapped the original 7MGE for another lower mileage motor, but had no idea what he was doing. Most the time has been spent righting his wrongs, rather than actually moving forwards. No biggie, the body is straight and all there. Just need time!

Forgive my ignorance, but was a factory LSD an option on these cars? I looked a '88 a few years back with an auto, and the seller claimed it was a factory 4.10 LSD rear. Now I'm curious

Yup, pre 89 turbo models came with a factory installed 3.91 LSD According the build plate on my car, it was not equipped with a factory LSD, but it has one installed by either one of the previous owners.

Hey, that's the fun part right? You'll feel more satisfied when the car is done.
