Catch can chocolate milk

So a few days ago I emptied my catch can on a cold day after a while of driving. I've emptied my can before and seen it come out a dark coffee color, but this time it came out looking very different. It looked like creamy melted ice cream almost. Is this anything normal or should I be concerned?

In my opinion, that does not look good.

Agree, looks a lot like some water mixed with that oil. What does the oil on the dip stick look like and what level is it?

Agree....

Check the dip stick and see what it looks like. The only time I've seen oil that color is when it had water in it. It's possible the catch can is gathering condensation.

No issues, if it Is light brown, in cold weather the cars run richer meaning more fuel vapor is mixed with the oil vapor. Mine looks more light brown in the winter. Yours appears orange on my screen, could be the camera or my monitor.

Yea I checked the dipstick right after I saw what the catch can leaked out. The oil looked perfectly fine on the dipstick.

This is totally normal in cold weather due to condensation that builds up in the CC when the car cools off. It's going to collect water vapor, fuel, and oil all the time, but in cold weather there is more water in the mix, which gives it that color. It's also common for the can to fill up more often in colder weather because of this, so be sure to check/empty it more.

Yes, perfectly normal. It will also be thicker than normal too, and build up some too, so keep that drain as open for as long as you can. When you can't remove the can and clean it out, the gunk takes a lot longer to come out than the oily fluid.

This.

I have noticed this the past 2 winters on my GTI with a catch can. Needs to be emptied twice as often in the winter (at least for me).

Ok I feel better, I just did a lot of searching and found the same thing on other forums. Condensation and fuel mix in. /sigh of relief

has anyones been dry after about 6 months of driving? I leave the drain and pinch it off, so I would be able to tell if it is leaking.
