Tremec Shifter Knobs

Since the M6 Camaro uses the Tremec 6060 transmission, I'd like to showcase this fact by changing out the factory shifter knob with an aftermarket Tremec knob.

Questions:

1. Is the factory OEM shift knob threaded or pressed on to the shifter?
2. If the OEM shifter is threaded, are the threads SAE or Metric.
3. Is the OEM shift knob needed to secure/maintain the leather shifter boot. In other words, will the OEM boot "ride up" the shifter and be loose if the OEM shift knob is replaced with an aftermarket knob.

The OEM shifter knob is pressed on so all the ones on your jegs.com link do not work on your camaro if you want look at this pics
Hope that helps.

Even if you could swap it out your new problem would be how to attach the shift boot to the knob.

Nothing is ever easy is it? lol

Thanks for help, and good pics, too.

Looks like I will most likely buy the aftermarket Hurst shifter when it becomes available (not the OEM GM/Hurst shifter). Maybe then I can spring for the Tremec shifter knobs
