I thought that was only to apply power when you use the other wire for show mode.
But it sounds like this is not the case.
Wondering aloud---- why techno cant just use the factory power harness that we plug into anyway to supply all power to the lights
Probably a current issue. Also, for the paranoid... you could wire an ignition-signaled interrupt-relay for the main power to the tech lights w/a $5 automotive relay and a few hours on a saturday. You shouldn't have to do this, but it would work.

At least you won't have to worry about it with the stock lights. Let us know how the stock ones go in regards to battery life just to ensure everything is fine.

I will let you know as soon as I can. I'm going to be leaving town again next month for a week and can report then! :-)

but tying it to the ignition circuit would mean the key would have to be on for things like hazards, or when arming/disarming otherwise they will be off. Unless there is a way around that.

I have had these lights since May 2012. No water leaks or burnt out LEDs. I thought I was one of the lucky ones but came home today and the rear lights were barely flashing and the battery was dead after 2 weeks in the garage. I called Todd and he said that each of the 4 lights have a microprocessor that draws 900ma. He mentioned that after the battery goes down to about 9-10 volts, the lights go into show mode (hence the reason the lights go on as the battery is draining). There is no fix except to use a switch on the pink wire to the battery to cut power off or to connect it to the ignition. Now I am debating if this is really worth it. I love these lights but also like having a car that starts.

I think I decided what to do about the battery drain problem. I will connect them to the ignition and have a switch that will connect them directly to the battery in case I need them for hazard lights. A PITA!!!!

CTEK charger will solve all you problems if you plan on not using your car everyday.

Mine sat for 8 days and started fine. So it appears the cutoff is between 9 and 14 days?

argh.. I really wanted these too..
oh well are there any other alternatives for an LED tail with sequential?
that was one of the things I loved on the 13 Stang.
Guess if not I'll just go with afterburners for now.

No good ones honestly. If you drive your car every day you wouldn't have to worry about it though. And if you don't it would be simple to put a switch in your trunk.

Mines a daily driver.
But there also seems to be many other issues than the power drain being.reported.

Dont know if its worth posting but I just found this thread. I installed the lights in early spring and about a month and a half or so ago found the battery dead. I kinda assumed it was the lights but wasnt sure. I jumped it and it sat for another two weeks. Came out to the garage and saw the light show. Side markers and halos were on too and the car died while i was standing there. Have it on a charger now. Got the open and close window message on the display. Tried opening and closing it numerous times and the message stays. Now when I open and shut the door, the window does not close completely, stays open about a 1/4 inch until i close it. Off to the dealer I guess. FWIW, I have a convertible with the 6M.
