What kind of fuel should I be using?

SO I have a v6, should I just be using regular unleaded? 87 or should I use supreme 89, and whatever the 91 premium? Does it matter?

the difference in octane is the difference at which it com-busts because high performance engines run hotter so you need to run a higher octane.. as far as i know the v6 you have should run fine with 87, read the manual if all else fails it should say what fuel is preferred or check the gas cap! but being that the v6 is more geared towards gas savings and looking good 87 would be my guess.

87 regular, no need to do the 91 unless you have an SS, a v8 or higher. Unless your my cousin who owns a mini cooper S 4 banger and he fills his up with 91 octane

manual says 87 is fine. Personally i use 93 cuz i run hard most of the time. Either one will work fine.

Use the gas that you can afford. If you cant afford 92/93 then purchase 87. This question has been beaten to death. Kinda like the V6/V8, Auto/Manual, LS/LT, 1SS/2SS.

For myself I purchase the 92, it gives me the placebo effect. Does it do anything more, who knows and who cares.

It all comes down to if you want to spend 30 cents per gallon more or not. 87 is fine for V6 cars

You need higher octane to control spark knock. This has nothing to do with heat.

OP, you're fine with regular 87 octane. You need not spend extra $$$ on higher-octane fuel. I, unfortunately, do.

Absolutely. You're safe to run 87 octane, but by doing so you're inhibiting ignition timing, and thus reducing power. Running 91 octane or better will give you back that timing, and give you more horsepower.

Premium fuel is recommended for the SS, per the owner's manual.
