Sounds sortof like an exhaust leak...but??
Anyone else have a slight exhaust leak noise from the passenger side of the motor?
This only happens when the engine is very well warmed up and under a load/accelerating. It's sort of a flapping sound/ deck of cards thumb shuffle I see no evidence of a leak and suspect it may be something normal that I am simply unaware of. It started at about 1000 miles and I have 5000 now. Last edited by f5journal; 04-11-2011 at 11:17 AM. |

Totally stock. I've been waiting to go to the dealer until I have at least a couple issues to address.
The sound I'm asking about seems to start when you get to 2800-3500 rpm under a load. It's not there under simple driving around town |

I would say you have a leak somewhere. They are hard to find sometimes. The valve train on these cars are somewhat loud just like most every other LS and late model Gm motor long tube headers will really magnify the sound but since you do not have them i would just take it to the dealer and tell them to fix it riding around with leak will only make it worse if thats what it is. Maybe you can post a video that would help.

I'm taking it to the dealer. I has to be a leak. I had George at MGW install a shifter Friday and the minor jostling of the transmission and engine made it slightly worse. So it has to be a leak

Nothing yet...have not been to dealer. It's not at the engine to manifold and I checked the manifold to pipe joint..that is tight also

I started to notice a similar sound (does sound like cards shuffling) same RPM range and while accelerating. Please post when you get it figured out.

Sounds to me like the same problem I had on my 2LT, and now also on my 2SS. Is it a "rustling" noise??? Sounds like its coming from the passenger floor board under 3k+ acceleration???
If so, then its the heater core inlet valve that needs to be replaced. I had this done on my 2LT, and will be taking my new 2SS in soon for the same exact noise. There is a TSB for this issue.

I have this exact noise also. Mine crops up above 3k RPM all the way through the power band coming from what seems like the passenger floorboard or low passenger firewall area. I'm thinking it's either a leak or a loose shield. I have a hard time thinking it's the heater core, doesn't sound like fluid it's more of a small metallic clank. At first I thought it was bad gas and I was experiencing preignition, however, I have used nothing but 91 octane and have done several fuse pulls...I'm curious if anybody has solved this problem yet?
