Here's a cheaper alternative and easier method that includes a fused stealth mirror cord.

Got my radar detector hard wired today. Went from the roof liner down the pillar to the fuse box and tapped into one of the 10A fuses using a fuse tap. Just wanna say thanks to all you guys adding your "HOW-TO". It really helped me decided how I wanted to do mine.

My primary concern is the visibility with that mount...there's already very, very little real estate between the bottom of the mirror and the dash...

I'm the same way. At my height I'm already looking directly into the rear view mirror. I can't give up anymore of my visibility out the front. I had to mount my RD to the right of the rear view mirror.

The mount is in the rear of the portion of the mirror, so the only part you see are the lights.
The idea of this mount is to have a good place to mount the RD, and if necessary a quick method to remove it witha press of a button.

take a look at the pic...you're loosing at least an inch of vertical visibility between the lower portion of the mirror and the dash.

Yeah. I guess if you're making a right turn, and a hottie is going by you might not be able to see the important body parts.

I got mine about a week ago...I love it, but I put mine on the drivers side and ran the power cord down the A-piller and hard wired it into the fuse box. For $7 I got a hard wire kit from Safe-N-Sound for my 9500ix off of ebay.

because the OP either took them down, or he changed providers, or something like that....as he had hosted all of those pictures on his comcast account.
