You gotta see this, import drivers are hysterical

Simple delusion. When I brought up they should race an SRT Challenger my friend has they didn't have the time.

You underestimate these cars. It doesn't cost that much to get good numbers out of cars like that. This EG Sedan can run low 13s (12s on a good day) with 330WHP (and 185 tires). The guy who owns (owned) it also owns a C4 Vette (with 285 rear tires) and says the Honda pulls harder. He was asking only $4000 at the time of that video. It really doesn't take all that much. What increases cost is making a car like that reliable, but that's a different story and is irrelevant, really.

My bone stock WRX Premium can hang with my SS from a dig. Sure, it lacks top end power and gets blown away by the SS from a roll, but a few mods could fix that. About $1500 could get me an intake, better TMIC, and tune putting the AWHP near 300. Certainly $10k worth of mods to match the price of an SS would be more than sufficient.

While I agree with you...the Honda "feels" like it pulls harder because it has a turbo! My dad's volvo has a turbo but it still won't beat my car. A bone stock STI is not a normal car, a WRX is a turbo charged beast. That's what the post was about from my friend. Should be buy a WRX or turbo charge and soup up his $20,000 + 2013 Civic, I told him not to waste his money and get an STI. While noting that the cost of upgrades puts you damn close to getting a bone stock SS which is 400+hp to start and you could turbo that and blow away any Civic you ever meet.

Anyways more on topic, I don't disregard anyone. But I do disregard kids who tell me their bone stock CRX's can hang with 600 horsepower mustangs and that their 2013 Optima is faster than a V8 Camaro. I'm sorry, but that's pure delusion. Can a Honda be faster than a Camaro? Of course! With a turbo, headers, intake, exhaust and many other upgrades. Which as I posted a turbo to get to a rated 312HP on a Civic is $3000 and needs a full exhaust system.

Gearing ratios, ability to hook and other things aside...take the weight of the car divided by the HP. That will tell you if it will be close. 4000lbs takes a lot of HP to be fast. I don't consider a 13 sec 1/4 mile very fast. I'm a V-8 muscle car guy but I have seen some wicked fast imports.

An EG hatch with B20 swap and a turbo can be had for less than $10k. That gives it enough power for wheelspin. It's not a 1/4 mile monster, but sometimes it's more than just 1/4 mile. The Z/28 is a perfect example of that.

It really comes down to what you want to own. Most of the kids want the import cars. They have in their minds that V8 cars are harder to work on, when in real life the import cars are the jigsaw puzzle. FWIW, import cars to mod are as expensive or more that our domestic cars.
But when It comes down to power to weight do not underestimate an import with 250+ hp that weighs half of your Camaro and a kid that knows how to drive.

Not all of them are clueless. Just most of em

I agree, I don't find ours cars that fast stock. It is not fast enough to scare me when I get on it. Lots of cars out there can hang with us but I love the look and the ride.

I will never get these people thinking 200-300 horsepower cars will beat anything if this were the late 90's very early 2000's yea maybe not today though.
There are a few ricers at Orlando Speedworld who are wicked fast, but they run supercharged rotaries. No where near streetable though. They backfire like hell at the line until they take off. It's like the run like crap unless the thing is spinning 10k.

Lol how did this get political??? I just thought it was funny that these kids with a stock crx and one with a stock optima think they can roll with 400+ hp camaros and mustangs. I'm sorry but that isn't happening. I'd love to see a stock crx beat a 600 hp mustang.

Agreed. But this wasn't a power to rate debate. It was 2 kids saying they have bone stock cars that can beat v8's. Nope, sorry. Could they? Yep. But not before modding it a few thousand.
