Any tips or tricks when entering a car show?

It's my first show. There are no mechanical or engine mods.

Should I have a sign made with the details even if they are stock?

Any advice will be appreciated....

Anything to make you stand out from the rest will help you.

Displays like your mentioned, a cleaner car, mods obviously. Sometimes being very social with others can help too.

empty your trunk, have nothing laying inside the car, besides having the obvious cosmetic details, make sure your door jambs, wheels and wheel wells are spotless....

Also helps if there's a raffle to buy some tickets. Every car show I've entered and bought raffle tickets, I've gotten a trophy or a plaque. The cars shows I didn't buy any tickets, I got nothing. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.

Make sure your in the right class. Driver's window down, passenger window half way down,Hood open, trunk open, & if you have a convertable your top is up so judges can see if it has any tears or holes in it. No for sale signs on car. If you our judged correctly, they will take points off for not doing these things.

When people ask you about your car, show excitement and enthusiasm while answering their questions.

People feed off the excitement and it translates into votes.

I wouldn't worry about the wheel wells. Just make sure your car is clean, inside and out. Find out when judging is, hit your car with quick detailer and a microfiber cloth right before it starts.

I leave my windows up and doors locked. Too many people out there that love to stick their heads in cars with a cigarette hanging out of their mouths or they use your car as a trash can.

Take a canopy or some form of portable shade, lawn chairs, sunscreen, and a hat. It sucks getting burned.

Arrive EARLY because it sucks parking under a tree and getting sap on your car.

I would not waste your time entering a stock car in a car show. Car shows should only be for classics or modified cars. (Maybe including honda's with big fart pipes)

Lots of local shows in my area, only allow 20 year or older cars.

But each their own, enjoy yourself. I bought an old shitty Mustang to take to shows...

Don't listen to him.

Car shows are for EVERYONE and EVERY year of vehicle.

My '11 2SS/RS was bone stock and she took home 9 trophies during the summer of '11. Several of those were 1st place. During the summer of '12, after I added a few things, she scored another 22 trophies.

There's a place for everyone at the shows, even foreign POS's with butt trumpets.

Something like this always helps a nice car show stand with a display board with information about your vehicle

Hey don't bash me..... Not all car shows allow new cars.

Take your car you will have the time of your life, everyone there is friendly and are for the same reason you are there.

I'm pretty sure I didn't ask if entering a show would be a waste of time or what kind of cars should or shouldn't be in a car show. I asked for advice about doing well when I do enter. But thanks anyway.

I totally agree, car shows are for every vehicle on the road. Wether it be rat rod, under contruction, new or bone stock. The trophies don't mean that much any more after getting over 450 of them with the same vehicle. I like going too them to get out,see what people have done too their vehicles, meet new people & be with the wife cause she enjoys them as much as I do. Sorry for long responce.
