Borla Exhaust question

So i recently put the borla atak exhaust on because i couldn't stand the drone coming from the flowmasters...but it sounds way too raspy with the solo hi flows. I'm thinking of going with the Stype since it has a more deeper and subtle tone than the atak. Since I got the full cat back, if i get the axle back only i wont have to cut the pipes or anything, pretty much plug n play correct?

Thanks

You might want to contact Borla directly. But your problem might be the cats?

Don't know if you have Headers and Hi-Flows or not, but...

I put the ATAK System on my car last fall and agree with you in the raspy sound. I also thought the drone was bad too. From what I've read, with the ATAK System you don't want to put Long Tube Headers and Hi Flow Cats on. My tech suggested going with Borla Shorty Headers and keep stock cats. I took his advice and my car sounds awesome! No raspiness (is that a word) nor drone. He used a Diablo Tuner for the tune.

I agree with OrangeJuice, I bet the Hi-Flow Cats is part of the problem. A call to Borla is a good idea.

Good luck!

Well the solo high flow cats pump up the sound ALOT. It sounded pretty quiet before with the stock ones. But the atak is just way too raspy for my taste that's why i wanna get a different axle back since i already got borlas X Pipe

ARH Mufflers

You may want to check out the American Racing Headers muffler system for the 5th Gen Camaro's. These systems sound great and have that 60's muscle car sound to them. We have installed these on a number of Camaro's with and without headers and either way they sound great.

Yes. You can just get the axle back. I called Borla with the same question.

Interesting. Just put my solo HF cats on with only stock exhaust and it sounds so much better. I was thinking about the Atak catback system too, but after reading this maybe not. I am thinking about going with Solo's Mach XL catback system with J Pipes so I can have a drone free sound.

St33v-do you have the L99 or LS3? I was curious if you felt that you car seems to have a hesitation to it when getting on the gas after installing the HF Cats. I just pulled mine out of storage and the gas is about 4 months old (93 octane with stabil).

Mine has the Borla ATAK cat back, ARH 1 7/8 " long tube headers w/ hi flow cats, and CAI, Inc. air intake. I've been very pleased with how it all sounds. I have videos on youtube. Just lookup "starscoach1".
