Drag rear wheel setup

2010 Camaro 2SS M6. Currently have the 20 inch stock rims. RWHP is roughly 425.

I am looking at getting the LEAST EXPENSIVE setup for my back wheels. I need tires and rims. I was thinking 17 or 18 inch rims. I did some searching and am more confused now lol.

Can anyone post direct links to rims and tires that would work together with my Camaro? I tried chasing down try this or that and came up empty :(.

Didn't you already get a set of the 18x9.5 vette wheels? They're probably the cheapest your're going to get for the rear.

At one point, I bought these for my car, but ended up going with a more expensive Weld set-up. These will fit without any modification, other than repositioning the emergency brake cables so that they don't rub in the inside wheel lip. Use a 305/45R18 drag radial with them and you'll be set-up just perfect!!!

Did you happen to weigh these? The 18x9.5 Vette GS wheels that I have are 23lbs each without the tires. Just wondering if the ones you posted the link for are lighter by much.

Mine were 26 lbs. each. They were "replicas" made by Sport Muscle (ZR). I imagine the OEM's would be a bit lighter.

Did you run those with the stock 20" fronts? Thinking of going this route til I can buy a whole set of 17" or 15" conversion.

Actually, I didn't run them at all. I sold them (new) before I installed them. But there are plenty of people that have run them with 20" stockers up front. Doesn't cause any issues, and certainly provides some good additional traction at the track!

Thanks for the Reply. I am trying to find a wheel that will look good with the stock fronts. I have read that the 40mm offset will bolt right up. But I like the looks of other options with the 56mm offset better to match the fronts. I think you have to run a spacer with those from what I am seeing/reading.

56mm you need a spacer or need to swap on V6 brakes.

I run rims similar to what BMR linked:

I'm thinking about going full 17's this year... We'll see.

Haha oh the shame.

To the OP, no real cheap way to do 17's right now, Weld rears are usually around $450 each. Race Star when they release the 17's for rear will be cheaper but it will be a while, maybe like July. Their current 17x9.5's will fit over V6 rims though.

John how big of a spacer is needed? Also how big of a tire can you run on that 9.5" rim? Thanks.
