question for tuners
hypathetical only,,,if you have a tune and upgrade to headers and hi-flos then throw a engine light , (probably the o2 sensor), will the computer try and lean the fuel to get the temps up ? and if the so if you disable the code (after clearing it) will the computer stop trying to adjust and revert back to the tune, what does the computer do when it cant read the rear 02 after its disabled? or does it show normal or just not read it after? thx,,dan.

Ususally it is an O2 sensor. If it is throwing a code then its best to have it checked outand make sure it is not a front o2 sensor code. Some codes will say stuck lean or rich. At this point the tune is out of there is a bad O2. If the rear o2 is turned off properly then the car will not even run the test for them. Then the car is only running off of the fronts at time. Personally I usually plug up the rear o2 with and take them out of the system all together.

If it is a front o2 code, most likely its running in open loop and will NOT use any trims to correct fueling. Rear o2's are just the cat monitoring o2's, they need to be deleted out like mentioned above. It will not under any circumstance lean out to warm up faster, it actually is setup to run open loop until coolant temp reaches a certain temp, only then will closed loop fueling occur if the o2's are good.

An O2 DTC resulting from a header install should not prevent the PCM from entering closed loop operation once the coolant temp threshold has been reached. The codes normally thrown are for slow response and/or low voltage, due to the decreased operating temp of the sensors. These codes will not force the PCM into open loop.

The rear o2's won't, if you had a bad o2 that was not responding at all then yes it would force open loop. Slow response codes won't force open loop.
