4th gen v6 0r v8 help
Hey everybody I just got a job and saw a bEAUtiful 4th gen camaro, and well idk if ts a v8 or v6, but if its a v6 wat can I do to make it faster.

Put a V8 in it
 There are 3800 guys on here, so I'm sure they can point you in the right direction

In all honesty if it a v6 its still a reliable motor. I have a 01 v6 and love it. I wouldn't do a ls1 swap. It would be cheaper and overall easier to sell the v6 and buy an ls1 car. If performance is what you after go for an ls1. If you don't have the $$ for the ls1, the l36 is still a fun nice little motor. Can still do donuts and burnouts. Just depends what your looking for. If its a v6 and has a y87 rpo code that means it has a sports package. Didn't make a allot of y87.

Since you asked Derek, I have all the bolt on s, most of the suspension and a bigger cam.

To meet emissions standards, factory cams leave a lot of performance untapped and swapping cams is a good way to get some extra horsepower. But, factory engines are designed so that each piece works together perfectly, so depending on the cam you choose, it may not just be a direct swap. You may have to change out some other parts. |

If you want torque and a car comparable to your 5th gen, you'll want the V8. If you want a car to put around in and occasionally have fun and not car about outright speed go with the V6.
