Drag racing a manual
Is it possible to be consistent with a stick. Any tips to do so. I can't even get a decent light. I have plenty of racing experience but I had an auto with a transbrake.

I don't know enough to give advise but I know for a fact it is possible to run consistent with a stick. There was a guy at C5F, who is a member on here that had all his runs within .05 seconds of each other with his stick. Takes a lot of practice but it is possible.

I'm still learning, but, I became more consistent when I installed a dual mode shift light. It has launch rpm then goes to shift rpm once headed down the track.

I just enjoy being pissed at myself trying to get down the track consistently with a manual tranny! Lol! Makes me push myself harder to keep getting better.

You will never be as cosistent with a manual as you were with an auto with a transbrake. But,Practice will help to some extent. If someone is running a manual
and all their runs are within .o5 of each other...They have electronics to help and they are very lucky.

Would a two step box help dramatically? I am thinking it would.

The problem with the 2 step is you have to dump the clutch or it will rpm flash if you slip it out. When I bracket raced my stick mustang I would stage at like 2500 rpm and just slip the clutch almost like leaving a traffic light. I was pretty consistent in the 14.60's and .70's. For the light try staging deeper till you can get it where you can leave as the bottom bulb turns on and cut a light.

The problem with dumping the clutch (without a centrifugal lock up clutch) is you're always going to either spin or bog. Slipping the peddle IMHO is the closest way to leaving like an auto does
