Dropspeed - Nice info. This feature gets a great deal of negative response from site members. Anyone that has complined on this site about HSA should take full advantage of the NHTSA site you provided and get the ball rolling on possible corrective action.

I'll jump on this bandwagon. I truly hate the HSA. I have been driving standards most of my life and have killed the car twice since i had it. To me it feels like the parking break is on.

Had to quote myself i went back to the gas station just to take this pic, hopefully someone at GM(customer service)will see this.Under my hood is a little emblem that says High Performance,at no point should hill assist and High Performance be on the same car!!!!!!!!!!!! this thing is so freaking stupid,it makes me wonder if GM really does stand for Government Motors?
This no joke, i was at the pump in the middle of the picture, and hill assist came on and stopped me from leaving.

No offense to GM customer service, but their power is limited.

Go to post 70 in this thread and register a complaint with the NHTSA. GM will have no choice to make a change if it is actually a safety issue.

It's probably good to complain to NHTSA, but better to Chevrolet. Any recall is not likely to provide the main objective of being able to disable HSA.

Much as I like the Camaro, it's not the only game in town. It IS a tough choice between the 2014 SS and 2014 5.0 with Track Pack. If there isn't some answer to this problem in the next month or so my tough decision will be made easy. To be clear, Camaro is my first choice if (and only if) this mess gets resolved.

Having not received our car yet, I am holding my final judgement on this feature until I drive the car, but I can say this. I would not buy a significantly slower car that cost a good deal more to avoid this feature, and that is what you are doing by choosing the Mustang (even Lagina Seca) over the Camaro 1LE!

That decision already seems clear: 2014 5.0. The 2014 SS looks like crap in my opinion. There's also the C7.

I don't know where you get the idea that a 5.0 costs significantly more.

2013 5.0 Premium w/Track Pack MSRP $38,040 KBB Fair Purchase Price $35,583

2013 2SS w/1LE and RS (to match 5.0 Std. HIDs) MSRP $41,885 KBB Fair Purchase Price $40,155.

In my book, the 5.0 costs significantly LESS, almost $5000 less.

As far as performance, for acceleration they are almost identical, but the 5.0 Track Pack is about 3 seconds a lap slower that a 1LE at the Streets of Willow track, which is quite a bit (1:22.70 vs. 1:25.77 driven by professional race car driver Randy Pobst). So the 1LE is a better track car, and it has some other advantages, trans cooler, HUD, but you will pay for it.

I was referencing the Laguna Seca package which I was under the impression was about $40k. And the the 1LE still beats that car. That 3 seconds is pretty big too. To me there is a big difference between the two cars, for the same, or much less depending on which Mustang you choose.

2014 GT Base with Track Pack is $34,190 MSRP including destination. Now that price and "fastness" have been settled, I will still go Camaro IF they straighten out this HSA mess. Someone mentioned that they have a fix for 2014 but they won't make an official announcement because it would be admiting that 2013's are defective. I'll keep waiting........for a little while longer.

The entire Boss 302 line, including Laguna Seca is no longer available. It was a limited production model.
