I'm in the same boat - just graduating and I need a job before I can think about buying anything that costs ~$35k.

I have an unknown quantity of years before I'll be able to afford one...and then it will probably be a used one.

Actually, ever since I bought my GP GXP in January, I have completely canceled my 5th gen plans. This car is just... just... outstanding in every way. It may not be the fastest car on the road, but with 303 hp and all of the incredible creature comforts in it and all the technology... man... it's incomparable to a new Camaro. If anyone is looking for a used car, I highly recommend a Grand Prix GXP. I even like it much more than the G8 GT and G8 GXP. The backseat headroom and legroom is another thing the 5th gen can't touch. No compromises!

That said, I would like to add a 4th gen to my own personal stable. So that will likely be my next additional car. I'd like my own weekend toy, and that's gotta be an early 4th gen Camaro Z28 or SS. The 5th gen is a far superior Camaro, but I am and have always been in love with the looks of the '93-'97.

I'm waiting to accumulate a larger down payment. Purchase date is still right around where I thought it would be. Early to mid next year. My only problem is the big DECISION. Camaro or Vette It will come down to a lot of test driving. In fact the salesman will probably go insane with all the details that I am going to get nitpicky about. I just need the money at the moment..

I thought about a GXP too, but it doesn't hold a candle to the G8GXP that I recently test drove. The only thing the Grand Prix had over it was the HUD.

HUD isn't an option on it? That sucks. I love mine. I think the gauges on the G8 GXP are way too small to even read, that's the only major negative comment I have about that car. Everything else seems greater than or equal to what I have on my GP though.

Thanks to my GP GXP, I now have three options I would never want a new car without--HUD, sunroof, and heated seats. Even on a warm/mild day, those heated seats really feel good on a sore back with the A/C on.

Guys--if you're ordering a new Camaro, I highly recommend the sunroof. It'll help light up that super dark shady interior.

Waiting so I can pay in cash, interest charges for any kind of credit are insane. I also want to see what the Convertibles look like and am still holding out for a Z28 version later down the line.

I should have 40k saved up by the end of 2011 early 2012. Thankfully my job is not one that can be cut no matter how bad things get. Someone will always need to dial 911 and I'll be there to answer it.

Bringing back a slightly older post.

I am waiting about a year myself. Have a few other financial obligations I have to finish taking care of before taking on another car payment, so if everything works out the way I think it will, next May I will give myself a pretty good 34th Birthday present.
