Id love a turbo, and could go $4K but much more and Ive prived myself into an SS and would rather just order one and sell the V-6. Im seriously looking at the ZEX 50 to 100 HP kit for the V-6 for $600. I dont plan to romp it too often and would be about 8 romps per bottle, not bad for the cheap cost of refill.

4k would be near impossible without cutting major corners.
Gt35R = $1300
Tial VB44= $350
Tial alpha Q = $275
FMIC and piping, garrett or spearco = $1250
Hotside plumbing= $1000
TUning $ 600 (and that's if a custom operating system isnt required)

So just in parts at the manufacturer level we are at what $4800 for a well designed, quality kit with good parts that will last.
Nobody is going to go thru the development and production of a turbo kit to make a couple hundred bucks off each one.

In no way will a turbo kit on your V-6 be a "Budget SS" ever, period.
It's about throwing the cookie cutter aside and doing something different.

I see where you guys are coming from, but I think your missing the point a little bit on the intended market.

You can save a good chunk of money in the parts selection without cutting too many corners. Focus the coin on the important part -- tuning, name brand turbo (doesn't have to be super fancy.. T series still gets the job done). All the other stuff is relatively easy to save money on... couldn't see dropping massive coin on an FMIC setup anymore.

Most of the money is going to be in the fab work for the hotside components I would suspect...it's what always killed me on builds.

Ladies and Gents.... JT here at Hennessey... Wanted to post about an update we have on the turbo systems.

At this time, Hennessey Performance is going to pull back the throttle slightly on the turbo kit and look more so into the tuning of the v6. Once we have the calibrations for tuning the v6's, we will be able to throttle back up and offer not only the turbo, but more modifications for the v6!

New calibrations are not new for Hennessey. We are the first to have full control over the 2008-2009 Dodge Vipers, 2008-2009 Dodge Challengers and most recently the 2009-2010 Nissan GTR working with partners of ours. Once we have this hurdle pass us, watch out for what happens!

Speak to you soon,
James "JT"

True, I would definitley be interested in this kit after the warranty expires or maybe a yr early. For the right price with install or if it's a DIY kit I am more than happy to. Don't cut yourself short on pricing, everyone has to make a profit. Most of these Camaro owners aren't treating these like a Corsica, these are the new toys for the boys, and if they want more power/torque than give it to them, just don't go bankrupt because someone wants a cheaper turbo. Tell them to go to junky and pull one if they want cheap.

That is your right, and truthfully, the intended customer for a V6 turbo kit isnt trying to make a "cheaper v8".

If that's your angle then either the SS or the LT with a 200horse fogger kit with a 20lb bottle, some racegas and prayers is right for you.
