Just tested my 3GS with iOS 4.1 - So far - so good. I did have to hard reboot the phone. I get an incompatible device screen on the phone - but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

The Genres selection didn't seem to work right on the DIC - I don't use it - but I was trying the other stuff (audiobooks, podcasts, etc.) and they all seemed to work.

fingers crossed it stays this way

Bah!!!! I spoke to soon!

It's back to its old tricks. Artist list came up with blanks on the way home, interface was slow again. I rebooted the iPod and the blanks went away, but there was still some new strangeness!

Steering wheel controls didn't always work to change tracks. Display didn't always show the right song playing.

:sigh:

One great thing with 4.1...

You can now control the ipod functions in bluetooth mode using your steering wheel and dash controls. This is perfect... steering wheel controls without being plugged in!!!

And since you can still control via your phone, you can choose playlists, genius, etc.

YA!

I tried my iPhone 3gs in Bluetooth mode for music and it was a little choppy -
I will probably stick with the cable since the phone is a power pig anyway.
It did work however..

GM Connect

Follow the instructions on that screen and add the connection on your iPhone in order to stream music. Let me know if you have any questions or trouble at all.
I can connect to play the music using GMconnect. As soon as I leave the car the connection is lost. The phone connection stays connected. I have to remake the GMconnection every time I get in the car. Can this be fixed?

iPhone with USB

I have had many problems with my iPhone utilizing the USB port in the center console of my Camaro. I found when I upgraded to iPhone OS 4.10 it is working much better. I also noticed that the iPhone OS previous to 4.1 has problems in many other cars as well. It seems to work well via BlueTooth but it seems the music quality is a little bit less (maybe it is just my ears).

iPhone OS 4.0

Try upgrading to iPhone OS 4.1 and it cleans up quite a bit.

My fix

I had this same problem as well with my iphone 4. Im barely installing the 4.1 update now but this alternate way seems to work for me.

I select the ipod player on my phone, select the playlist and hit play. THEN I plug the usb port in. It allows me to run the phone through the steering wheel and the radio like its supposed to (I assume anyway)

Been working for me for a few months now.
