Unsure if this is old or w/e but I saw it on Facebook
Basically Texas plans on increasing certain HW strips to 85 http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/tx/7511083.html

Won't happen anytime soon. TxDOT takes forever with those traffic studies...

Just saw it on autoblog. Its approved but just needs to go through DOT?
I hope it goes through, that would be pretty cool. Wish we would do something similar for us over here

Ya it's pretty cool, although I'll possibly never drive on those selected roads, it sounds like something some people can look forward to.

Basically, legislature just told TxDOT they can now evaluate roads to see if they can handle an 85mph speed limit. TxDOT will take a few decades to get back on that

Hehe, by the time they determine that I-10 in West Texas is capable of handling an 85mph design speed, cars will be designed to exceed that without breaking a sweat...kind of like how 60 and 70mph speed limits now are not a problem for any new car out there...

Basically. And that's even assuming the Senate approves the same bill in the next year

The Senate still has to approve the bill in this session. Texas is a biennial legislature, meeting only every two years. So if the Senate doesn't get it this session the next chance would be 2013. If it were re-introduced at all.
