Made in Canada

I've been wanting my brother to buy a new camaro SS but he won't because it is made in Canada. He said if it was made in America he would buy it. Don't you guys think that is a stupid reason not to buy a great car. In a about year I will be getting a new Camaro.

No offence to our northern Neighbors but I prayed it would be made in the US from the beginning. The first 3 gens were made here in California if I recall correctly, It's an Iconic pony/muscle car if you make it in Canada it takes something away from it's US heritage. I compare it to buying an American flag made in China.

Disclamer: Canadians make good products and are real nice people.

PS please don't hurt my baby when it comes down the line.

No problem bud - it's a nationalist thing. Funny thing is, the greatest things in the world were invented by the co-operation of Canadians and Americans working together - the phone, the lightbulb and Insulin just to name a few.

Just think of it as having your best friend or neighbor help you on a project. "Hey, Canada! I've got this killer idea for a badass car, but I don't have the production plant for it. Can I use yours?"

It's still a Camaro

I agree. Sometimes it takes the help of a friend to make something really wonderful happen.

Thank you to all of our friends in Canada. I'm sure everyone is happy to have you on the team.

And it was built on a platform designed in Australia.

Sort of like the Canada Arm on the space station.

That's like not watching basketball because it was invented in Canada

Some greatly flawed thinking right there. Pizza and other pasta originated from Italy, so don't eat that! Fries, from France, so don't buy those!
His TV was probably made in Japan, or China, or India... so he shouldn't have bought that either! I'm betting most of his clothes weren't made in the US, is he not going to buy those either??

I think he just wants a scapegoat for some reason or another.

Well, in the end, GM makes more money by making it there, due to arrangements with the Canadian government. So more of his money stays in the US than if he bought a Toyota built inside the US. And there are plenty of good jobs created in the US designing/working on the Camaro as well.

that's an idiotic reason not to buy a camaro IMO. If it because he thinks hes not supporting the american economy, well, GM is an American company, so technically he is.

And here's a shocker--"American" cars built in the USA, still have tons of foreign parts! It's a global economy, very few products are "pure American" anymore.
