I've driven by Pflugerville police plenty of times with the plate in the windshield. My son likes it there. We bought this car for him this year. He's a senior in high school. Now I can't wait to get my Camaro. I don't think I'll put the plate in the windshield though. I used to own a '98 Firebird and I don't remember the plate ever bothering me. With the camaro I think it will be an eye sore on the front.
Can you see the plate behind the windshield? Last edited by EZ28; 10-24-2008 at 11:44 PM. |

Yep. Just make sure officers can see it too. Must be in plain view and legible.

How can you get away with not drilling holes for your license plate in Texas? I'm just curious what everyone plans to do. If there's no holes, then you can never mount it on the front bumpber correct? I'm probably just going to mount the plate on mine.

you can't really get away with it, except pray to god the cop coming towards you in the oncoming traffic doesn't care enough to pull you over, or is to busy admiring your car to look for something wrong lol.

Texas State STATUTE... STates The You must have 2 Plates One VISIBLE from the FRONT.. AND ONE VISIBLE FROM THE REAR... MOUNTING LOCATION (HOW/WHERE) Is NOT DEFINED.. Look It Up.. I Have the statute in my car, for reference. What I Have Is A Rubber Trim Around The Plate ( So none Of the ""That isnt safe It sharp CRAP"")and it sits On My Dash.. I Ahve eve nseen a few 4thgens with the plate mounted ON the air dam UNDER the CAR.. But yes a cop Could give you a ticket BUT 99% of the time the Judge will Dismiss the ticket once, the statute is brought up.. Which Brings up another POINT.. how many trucks do you see running around w/no front plate and they never get stopped.. I know in my truck i have NEVER been stopped for the front plate,BUT my Z on the other hand..

i was talking about just not having a plate at all in the front not like putting it in the window and what not. but yeah i suppose it could get dismissed, but to me it's just not worth it to go to court and all that crap. i would rather have it there that way when a car that looks like mine gets stolen they wont think that the one i am driving around is the stolen one.(car theives remove the front plates usually)

Hello!
|
I plan to look under the front lip to see if I can attach it to something there...zip ties come to mind as well since my current car has them and it's worked so far!
Either way...no one, and I mean no one is pop-riviting it to the front bumper!! |

hey legend can you post up a pick of this "under the front lip" idea you've got on your current car. it's interesting.

Hello!
|
This is my current ride...zip tied!
But I think we can tap and drill something under the front lip on the Camaro...then make a custom braket to sit on the bottom of the lip...I'll have to search to find what I'm talking about! Anyway...this is my current one...I know...at least it's a Chevy! Supercharged too!! |
