Will the Camaro be affected by factory break?
I just saw this article about GM closing a lot of plants for 9 weeks because of the obvious money issues and I ve been assured that the camaro wont be affected but with things going bad younever know....but yeah I just want some clairity.
Heres the link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30353861/?GT1=43001

with +- 16,000 pre orders in the US and Canada I can't see Oshawa being affected by this. Plus in the articles that I have read it says US plants will close, not Canadian ones.

Maybe if they stop making those full size trucks they can make more Camaro's on that line.
Double the Camaros! Bail out should have 10000 dollar rebate for 2SS w/sunroof, AKA CAFE Whut Package?. |

No way they would stop a line with 15K+ orders without the official launch. Plus as it's been pointed out, they were specific about US plants.
(Unless Canada has been made the 51st state). Better not tell the Mole! LOL

Yeah I read the same thing earlier. Closing for 90 days? Is the rationale to close down to avoid paying employee salaries...sort of like what the fed did years back?

Not only is it about US plants, it also states that the plants close to switch over to the next years models. The Camaro is a 2010...no need to switch over.

Well if you have been paying attention you would realize that GM can survive with the surplus of vehicles that they have on their lots from 3 months to anywhere up to 6 months at the current rate of vehicles being sold. The Camaro is not one of these vehicles. So essentially it would be viable to shut down lines that are not selling and start them up when the time is right...

This is what GM should have been planing long before it came to this: close every plant that is producing vehicles sitting for three months, for three months. Which basically means about 85% of GM's current lineup.
If there's a 120 day back log, don't produce a single car for 90 days. It's time for GM to start getting their inventory in line with their actual sales, not their inflated sales forcasts. |

The only disruption that will occur for the camaro will be the 2 week shutdown in july "annual".
