Engine swap questions?
Thinking of swapping my LFX v6 engine with a LS3 v8 engine cos now I just really want a ballsy v8 instead and I can't find a SS where I live that's standard with just about the same mileage as mine to trade in etc. Not a fan of the '14's tail lights at all.
Do I have to change anything else like transmissions, clutch, etc. Or stock parts okay to handle a engine upgrade? |

My opinion is you are better off buying an SS then trying an engine swap. It would probably cost a lot of cash for motor, labor, and all the supporting equipment needed for that to work. Plus your warranty would be gone. Just my 2 cents.

Just bite the bullet and get the 14.
I understand your feeling on the whole refresh on the camaro, I too feel the same way. But it the long run, it would be cheaper.

So I do have to change some things up additionally for a swap to happen? I don't mind the cost but if say I have to get a new transmission etc then it may make me rethink since it'll be far more pricier.

You will be way ahead , by only trade it in for a new or used SS , if that's what you want
Or move up the food chain to the ZLs , there all all over the place 12/13 year models |

Just find a car online and trade up. Far cheaper and warranties included. Non matching #'s cars are hard to sell. Not worth it.

Well, I'm going to have to agree with the guys that say trade it in on an ss. Will be cheaper, quicker completion, and should be easier to sell if/when that time comes. Being in Winnipeg, you have the Murray auto group, which has numerous dealers throughout the country that can get any used car in their inventory transferred to Winnipeg, saving time in driving to find one somewhere. That's basically the route I took to get mine, went to local dealer with a few options I had found, and we narrowed it down to what we thought was the best one, and had everything ready to sign the moment the car showed up here.

Here is what you are going to have to do. Engine, ECM, wiring loom, transmission, driveshaft, springs and struts in the front (and the rear should be done), radiator, possibly the condenser, a/c lines and maybe the compressor, possibly the alternator, fuel pump, motor mounts, transmission mount, and someone who knows how to reprogram the ecm and bcm to work. It's not the good old days, you don't just dump in a V-8 on a whim.
