There's lots of people running that Cam, to include myself when I get my swap done this summer/fall. That cam is actually TSP's top selling camshaft, and is a very popular OTS (off the shelf) grind.

Upgrades you should do are as follows :

Melling 10296 High Volume Oil pump
BTR Platinum Valve springs
Chromoly pushrods
Powerbond/SLP 25% underdrive pulley
ARP hardware (cam bolts, harmonic balancer bolt, etc)
LS2 Dampener
3 Bolt Cam Sprocket
C5R Timing Chain

I may be forgetting some things, but I'm pretty sure Litle88 or someone else will chime in to add somethings. Switch to a 3 bolt cam.

Lashway just ordered me a 231/236 that they will be installing next week. I heard it's real similiar to the 229 / 236. Can't wait.

The general consensus on the 229/236 vs. the 231/236 is the top end power that it provides. I've seen dyno charts were the 231/236 grind made the same rwhp or maybe 2-3 more than the 229, and that was way up in the powerband. They are both great cams.

How is the driveablitlty, do you get any surging at low rpms?

I haven't done my cam swap yet. With any bigger lift/duration cam, you are going to get some surge. The surge on the 229 cam isn't bad at all from what I gather (you obviously can't lug around in a low gear at or under 1100 rpms), and it is one of the more streetable cams on the market. I've done a lot of research in deciding to go with the 229, and I haven't heard one person say that they can't stand the surge or the driveability of the cam.

I got the night fury on mine and I have minimal surging/bucking so with that cam I'm sure there be little to no surging with the tuner being a capable one.

Your setup is pretty stout though! I'm sure the UDP won't make too much of a difference. What were your final numbers brother? Did you ever get it re tuned?
