here is what I don't get, there are other designs in other car brands that you would think would be just as prone to the same issue GM sites. not understanding why it is all of a sudden and issue after 5 years of production? there are a lot of potential problems if you do some wacky things while driving a car. how do you jam your knee in to the ignition switch? tried doing it a bit on the drive home from work tonight, couldn't really hit that sucker plush. would you have to be a dwarf or something? LOL. I usually drop the tilt steering wheel right in my lap when driving, pretty hard to get the knee up high enough to do anything other than hit the accelerator!

This sort of makes me think GM is over reacting, trying to make themselves seem proactive, trying to make themselves look better. just a guess
Honestly I think this is simply paranoia at its best. The sad part is you can expect more of this from GM and every manufacturer now. The littlest things will prompt a recall.

The car comes with two identical keys. Take it in and get the recall done with one key and keep it for a back up. The repercussions for GM doing the recall are much more severe for them then us. At least they are doing something. Not a big deal in my opinion.

Exactly. I won't even worry over it. Keeping my fob's as they are.

That said, they're not FORCING us to take our cars in. I think that they are being proactive and doing something when there is a suspect issue. The issue with the Solstice (which I traded in to get my Camaro), they just ignored. Oh, and that one was real... I had it happen to me (though I didn't die... obviously).

All of a sudden a keyless ignition is not such a bad idea (actually it's a great idea). That's about the only "key" I'd trade my key for, forget that separate key and fob, I'll keep things as is, my knee's isn't hitting a thing, and I'm 6'3".

I won't be participating in this recall. I will be keeping my key I happen to like it.
