I bought a '78 Camaro when I was in grad school (in 1982) for $2800. I was between my MS and PhD and I worked for an oil company for a summer job and was able to buy it that fall. It was a nice car and I drove it for several years, but it was not nearly as nice as the new one I have.
I think what Strangeman says is sage advice: " If you can afford it, go for it. Just don't mortgage your life... " |

It's not always about the speed. Some seem to forget that these are exceptionally good looking cars, and are a very enjoyable experience in their own right, whether a V6, V8, or highly modded beast. At that, he is looking at the 2LT. That says "I want a nice car with nice options" more than "I want to go out to the track and race!" If he saved up his money looking to get in one, don't try to confuse that for "I saved up my money to go fast, vroom vroom! Should I buy a 2010 Camaro?" Honestly, consider who you are offering advice to before you go spouting out your opinions please. |

My opinion. INVEST. educate yourself in stock trading and then when you have more then enough for a camaro then sell off 32k and buy the dam car. If you do it right it'll be a great move

If you do it wrong you're out all your money and have no car to show for it. Not everybody has the skill or patience to put the money where it needs to go. ... ... Ok. I'm going to slowly walk away from this thread. Nothing to see here. Move along. >.>

You should wait a couple years and buy a used one. Use that money for your education, a home investment or just put it in the bank until something you really need comes along. Living for the moment is nice but living a comfortable life is better.

Buy it now. SHit ur 18!!!!!! As I said before if all fails u can sell it. Living is about feesding and fullfilling your passions (Of course not to the extent you threaten your family, life, job etc.) You seem to have it set up. LIVE TO THE FULLEST! I live by that and I have never looked back like it was wrong and because of this ive done a ton of awesome things.

Seriously. Its all about the passion. I have a small business which can be very volatile and My buying mine was a huge risk but theres not alot of things that can fulfill your desires as much as your dream car, especially when its one of the most exciting cars in the past 20 years. Its a great time to love these cars believe me. And even when the hype fades Ill still have the feeling.

can you pay for the upkeep? To won a new car you have oil changes and maintenance costs, insurance, you know you'll probably get a couple tickets. Think carefully young skywalker.

Check out your insurance monthly payment on a 6 cylinder Camaro. it might be nearly as much as a car payment. Sock some of that money away for school and get the Camaro later.
