Stock cubes. 'Not looking for a ton more power or to set records, plus it's not like I had budgeted for this ahead of time. I guess the bright side is I caught this before ordering my 9-inch, or else I'd be in way over my head.

So I thought I would give a little update. It took the engine builder a bit longer than I had planned, but we finally got the forged engine block back this past week. 'Went with Callies H-beam rods and coated JE pistons with valve reliefs. I decided to have the compression lowered a little (was going for 9.5:1 but it came out to 9.8:1, according to the engine builder, which is fine).
The engine is back in the car with, of course, a new cam with much larger split for the blower (223/244) and similar lift and same 114 LSA as my old cam, which is just 1 more degree of overlap than my old cam, but not too radical. At first, I was just going to go down one pulley size on the Maggie (to a 3.6), but with the compression lowered, I was concerned I might not meet my power goals. Instead of going with a 3.4, I've decided to keep the 3.8 for now and do an OD rear to limit belt slip. I figure this will put me in the 8 psi range (I know I could go a lot higher but don't want to upgrade the fuel system again right now). This same cam and Maggie setup made around 630rwhp on a Callaway Corvette at about the same boost level. We're planning on between 600-620 in my case, which would be perfect for me. I also have a Monster LT1-SC twin-disk clutch that just got installed yesterday, so at least I'll be able to have part of my drivetrain upgraded, though not a full 9-inch, as originally planned. That will just have to wait 'til next year, along with fatter, stickier rubber (another reason it's pointless to add more power right now; LOL).. The bright side is I was finally able to find a 2nd car/"beater" for a good price from someone I know so I can drive the Camaro and buy tires for it less often. Anyway, time for some pics...

The "beater" (2000 Cadillac Deville--well-maintained; flawless paint and interior for a car its age; needs only minor work). 'Definitely no gas-sipper, but takes Regular gas and still gets at least 5 more MPGs around town than my Camaro, LOL. 'Plenty of room for hauling my drum kit to gigs too (gonna have to cover those light-colored seats though to keep the dirt and grime off). Let the AARP jokes begin, haha (FTR, I'm only 37)...

A little late but I would have gone 10-10.5:1 compression. Maggies love compression and you will run out of blower before motor.

Yeah, I'm sure stock compression would have been fine. 'Just thinking long-term, in case plans change, down the road (doubtful, but you never know!).

Hard to say, but probably next week. 'Depends on how fast the break-in process works. We will run 2 rounds of BR-30 break-in oil, before switching to LS-30.

'Depends on the motor. I would go with what your shop recommends (doubt many would second-guess a well-respected shop like ADM ).
