Long tube header question
i already purchased my long tube headers with cats, is it mandatory to install a tune for the new headers? will the check engine light come on if i do not install a tune?

it's not mandatory, but the check engine light will come on without it
plus, you're wasting your money on the long tube headers if you don't get a tune would you buy a V-8 if only 4 pistons were working? no. so why buy long tube headers, but then not use them to their full capacity? get the tune.

Generally is is easiest to take it to a shop as a basic programmer generally doesnt have the ability if i remember off hand. There are various things that need to be switched off not just one thing.

Get the SCT tuner from Ted Jannetty its about 400 shipped with the custom tune. I got mine from him after a lot of research, its the best deal. Do not waste your money with the diablo tuner, or you can go to have a shop tune it, but you will not find any negative feedback for Jannetty's tunes.

dyno tunes can do much much more than hand held programmers.

since you're in socal, i HIGHLY recommend 2 Edge Performance in Costa Mesa.
they did all the work for me, including a tune. i love the way my car sounds!! and no check engine light. a tune with them will probably cost you just as much as buying the Jannetty tuner, plus, if there's anything else you need to know, they'll tell you so your car runs as best it can. it's owned by a member on here. give Chris a call: (949) 645-4533

I didn't get a CEL and I was running 2" ARH primaries with HF cats... had it like this for several months.

go with JRE and a SCT he will tune it and you will not be dissapointed....there are people that have taken his tune to the dyno and they say that there was not much more to gain...in other words his tunes are spot on!!

And then you'll own a hand held that you can use to tweak the car later if you need. Sometimes I almost wish I had a hand held. Just to be able to log stuff and have someone look at it down the road and make sure all is still good. Like in my case I've added an ADM Scoop and ported TB since my dyno tune....but it's not worth me spending the money to buy a hand held now.

I'd really like to avoid voiding my warranty. What are the chances of throwing a code with the O2 extensions?
