Hawk Performance Ceramic Pad Noise

I am removing this because apparently the issue is not due to Hawk but instead is likely caused by the installation shop screwing up the job. Hawk has been great about this and is even sending me a new set of pads just in case.

Here is a short video of my problem. I have a longer one I will post when I get home.

To me the video sounds like the classic case of the install shop not de-glazing the rotors before pad change.Just slapping the new one's on and calling it good.Seen it a thousand times

If the rotors are not machined, the bare minimum is to Ruff up the surface to removed the previous pads imbeded compounds.

If this is not done and the proper break-in procedure not done after the new pads are installed, the new pads will just glide over the glazed rotors and make the squealling noise.

This is a very simplified explanation and there is much more to it,but you get the idea.

The problem is NOT the Hawk pads....it was the installers.

It happens for me when the pads are warm after driving for awhile. However I think you are right. The shop i had them installed at is one I have used many times but I am pretty sure they screwed this up.

I installed the Hawk HPS pads 2 weekends ago and haven't heard a peep out of them - put on about 400 miles. I did not do anything to the rotors, but I did do the break-in procedure (accelerate to 55, brake hard to 35, accelerate to 65, brake hard to 35, accelerate to 75, brake hard to 35).
