Next? Don't be so sure. Ford can easily cook up a 550 hp n/a engine with a 351 c.i "boss 351" add to that IRS and a lighter chassis. Let's not be brand nutswingers.

I'm not saying they WILL beat the next generation 302 LS, but you can't blame them for raising the bar as high as possible.

Its not that high, I ordered a 14 with the track pack, nav, recaros, and svt performance pack and it came out quite a bit less. Mind you here in Ontario (Canada) no one is selling above MSRP, quiet the opposite. My ZL1 was under MSRP.

In America it's above MSRP.

depends on the area. I know my local dealer wants above MSRP for any shelby they get, but if you look around you can find dealers that are selling for MSRP

This is 100% true, and it's not just a mindset. It's a fact. And not just for cars either.

It is not only cheaper to build every unit in one configuration, it will also yield a higher quality product.

A la carte options will require a company to have the capacity to build their product in countless different configurations. I remember Scott S. saying something to the effect that the 1992 Camaro, the last of the 3rd gen, could be built in any of 14,000 different configurations. Think about that. Think about all the different part designs required..... case in point:

You could have cruise with or without tilt wheel. You could have delay wipers with or without cruise. You could have cruise with or without delay wipers. You could have tilt wheel with cruise and without delay, with delay and without cruise, or with neither. You could have cruise without delay or tilt wheel or with both.

That little tidbit, a microcosm of the hundreds of thousands of parts in a car, required GM to have the capacity to engineer the wiring harness of the steering column in at least 10 different configurations. Think about that.... the wiring for one small part of the car in 10 different configurations. Multiply that out for the rest of the car, and you get the picture here.

I didn't know they were taking orders on 2014's, considering they aren't done making 2013's yet....

The 2013 was a ZL1 I bought for under MSRP, the 2014 is the GT500. They have been taking orders for a few months now

If you read my post regarding the 2014, I mention SVT, that is ford. I should have quoted the parent thread and it would have been more obvious the 14 was referring to the GT500 while the 13 was referring to the ZL1
