Just got mine, and am using Torque on my DroidX. But for some reason the AFR stays at 14.7... "ARF Commanded (last raw value:14.7)"

Commanded under normal driving conditions is 14.7 at all times. your long term fuel trims and short term fuel trims adjust to keep it like this. When WOT (wide open throttle), AFR Commanded should change.

I tuned a 2011 Gen 5 last week that had one of these units. I thought it a pretty cool. I think the investment was under $50 for the reader and the app.

It could pick up many of the output gauges, but nothing for input for changes. It had the commanded AFR but not the actual AFR. ( big differance)

Pretty cool to hang on your windshield at the track, and see how the run went, then call your buddys after the run.

Hi Ian,

Downloaded your app today for my 2011 Camaro SS (V8)... it's awesome!

Just one question tho... after selecting the GM presets option, the only green AFR display I can see is "commanded", not actual. It is 14.7, and never changes unless I'm at WOT, which it should for a commanded AFR.

I have a Diablosport Predator for datalogging/tuning, and it seems to pick up the AFR from my stock V8, is there something I'm doing wrong to make the AFR Measured "green" ??

Any help would be great. And thanks so much for an awesome app!!!!


Hi Chris!

If the measured AFR is not green then that means that the vehicle is not providing that information over standard OBD2. It may be provided in a manufacturer specific PID (or just as likely) could be calculated / guesstimated from other sensors on the vehicle)

However, with the AFR sensor, the engine has to have warmed up first before the sensor will supply data. Once the engine has completed it's warmup cycle (and the sensor is at operating temperature) then it should go green if the data is provided. The actual engine sensors it is calculated from are the O2 sensors. It would be handy to know if any of these are 'green' after the engine has warmed up

Nice find! But still no luck getting any measured Air/Fuel monitoring. I see that the one spreadsheet has a wideband AFR pid.

But for stockers, only “commanded” is being read (or is “green” in the menu). I tried three different ones last night (car was warmed up too).

Have had a look – the response from the ECU indicates that you don’t have any monitorable O2 sensors (which is what the AFR measured is based on), so it’s impossible to work out the AFR using the standard OBD2 PIDs (which explains why it’s not working in your case)

This means that we’ll need to find the extended Mode 21, or Mode 22 PID for AFR (which the above *might* work)

I use to have the Diablosport Predator and know for a fact that it has AFR. You can even search online and see that EFI Live and HP Tuners have it also.
