Your not making a mistake getting any color Camaro. Nothing looks as good as Black when it's clean. If you take good care of it, it'll look awesome for years to come. Here's how my 01 Formula looked in April 5 days before it met an unfortunate end:

not so good a few days later:

Still makes me sick.

The mistake is letting other people influence your decision. Color choice is so subjective that you should make it yourself.

Lots of good input on this thread. Bottom line is it is going to be your car. You probably can't make a bad choice. For me I wanted a color that "popped" when you look at it. Black, CGM, Silver, all nice but they do not pop. Rally Yellow, White, IOM, Victory Red, ABM, even RJT all pop. It's a car meant to draw attention so why not go with some pop in the color.

my red thunderbird is garaged all the time, no matter what color it gets dusty etc.. i have a metallic pearl white edge and it shows dirt too, but never looks as clean and shiny as the black. i ordered black and can't wait. go with your first choice, you'll love it.

I love black. My fiance's mustang is also black....so we have two badass black muscle cars in our driveway and it definitely draws the attention.

Just be prepared to wash it...it's not that bad honestly...if you do a good job with the Zaino (as I'm preparing to this weekend, kit coming in today)...you can make it last for months with just regular washing.

Good point doc, but don't let the summer heat stop you. Yes, its a bit unpleasant when you first get in your car, but the A/C gets her cooled down pretty quick. I got black with black leather, I know what I'm in for. But if you are keeping it garaged most of the time, that will definitely help.

Plus, if you are getting auto trans, get the remote starter!

Black is an awesome color for any car, just a huge pain in the but to keep clean. It's dusty as soon as you wash it. Still looks awesome. I love black cars.Name: mine.jpg

Black cars are awesome, they look mean, however very hard to clean. I have 2 black (1-BMW M3) and (1Black Z28) love it but my new one is the IOM 2SS/RS and boy do I love it even better. I would not change this color for nothing, people love it and a lot said this is the best color on the new camaro. It shows all lines and really stands out. Close your eyes and think of all colors and the last one you think of it, go with it. You will have a lot of different comments from everyone and I think that will confuse you even more. The extra cost for the IOM was worth it.

One out of every 5 Camaros GM is making is a Black one. I got bored over the weekend and decided to see which states had the most Camaros on SpasticSquirrel and then I broke it down by color. I only did the top 10 states. Every one state's top color was Black. And each state had twice as many black Camaros than the next color on the list. The least favorite colors were the blues and white. I personally don't like black cars. You don't see the beautiful lines of the car as well when it's black. Think of it this way: when a woman wants to look slimmer, she wears black.

Black is a hot color for this car, but you and everyone on the block will have a Black Camaro pretty much. It is also very hard to keep clean. CGM and SIM can get a little dirty and it won't show up right away. I actually like the CGM better than the SIM, and I first ordered the SIM also. I have a ABM, which I think along with the IOM are the hottest colors for this car, imo.

I love black but I don't want to wash it after every mud puddle I hit :p. I have seen every color in person now except for the aqua and imperial blue and the white. Red Jewel is most likely what I am going to go with after I saw these pics. Make sure you see as many colors in person as possible, I had to drive 2hrs away to see RJT and CGM in person. Also you can always look at Chevy's site and under the "view local inventory" to see what colors are available around you. Long story short though get what you want this is your car, just go into it knowing that black will take a little more visual maintenance. And all this really means is that you are going to need to have it out in front of your neighbors in the driveway more .

One advantage to the black other than it compliments the body lines is the fact unless you elect to opt for the RS package then you can get away with the mismatched color on the ditch moldings on the top. Color can either enhance or detract from the body lines and stance too, so choose wisely, but I haven't seen a bad on yet.
