firestone, have you had your vehicle in for this service yet or are you referring to your wife's AC system? Thank you for your time.

Had mine replaced once under warranty.
Of course it would not do it any time i stopped at the dealer..

Now it's doing it again less than 10K later and out of warranty of course
How hard is it to get at, does anyone know?

I had my blower motor replaced because it made a squealing sound. Dealer replaced it and it was pretty fast.

Just found out that mine is squeeky too. It's annoying but I don't really trust dealer's fix either. If it's going to return in a few thousand miles, I'd rather not touch it.

This happened to me in Iraq with the AC unit in my CHU. The squeaking kept getting worse and worse, until eventually I had to just take a hammer to it.

Stopped squeaking after that, but unfortunately..........the AC stopped working too. :(

This is definitely a KNOWN problem, and annoying as hell. My 2010 1SS had it, and now my 2011 2SS has it as well. Oh, "cannot be duplicated" is the word of the day on these, so make sure you take someone for a ride with you and make sure they have good hearing and didn't just get done working with an air chisel in the shop.

This is definitely a KNOW, and unfortunate ISSUE. Honestly, there is no fix for it. I had/have this problem in BOTH of my Camaros.

I had the blower motor replaced 3 times in my 2010 2LT/RS. I was even working at the GM Tech Center at the time. I took the issue directly to the Camaro Brand Quality Manager, who worked in the building next to mine. When your dealer cannot figure out the fix to a problem, they contact this guy who gets an engineer to figure it out, and then relay the info to their dealer service network. They also take common issues/problems, and suggest fixes and/or re-designs of components to prevent further issues in the production line. He said it is a normal sound, and there is no problem with it. However, the blower motor for the HVAC system had been re-designed 3 times, and was in the middle of a 4th re-design.

I got so fed up with the noise (and the numerous other issues I had), that I got rid of the car, and reluctantly ordered a 2011 2SS/RS. Hoping that with the newer re-designed unit, the problem would have been fixed. NOPE!! SAME SHIT!!!

The reality is, to get as much "car" as we get for the sub-$40k range, GM has to cut corners to still make a profit. Unfortunately, sound-proofing the HVAC motor seems to be one of those corners that was cut. It is just a cheaply-made unit. And GM will tell you it "fits within the acceptable standards" "blah blah blah blah." Honestly, it annoys the hell out of me. But I have found that the more you take in the car for warranty work, the more "noises" will pop up. These cars are not designed to be taken apart and put back together so many times.

Ultimately, its a cheap unit. You can try to get it replaced, and it may work good for a while. But its just the design of the unit, its cheap. It is what it is.

Should GM hold themselves to a higher quality standard??? YES, ABSOLUTELY!

But at the end of the day... its a $40k Chevy. Not a $100k Mercedes-Benz. Ultimately, you get what you pay for.

Best of luck.

Mine just started making that noise too and I have a 2012 2SS/RS. So far I just turn up the radio and it magically disapears.
