Automatic Tranny issue

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has or has had this problem before; as the car down shifts, is hangs up going into first gear and then bangs into gear as the car comes to a stop. It's the L99 with automatic transmission.

Also any known mod friendly Chevy dealer in SE Florida?

Thanks...

Mine gets stuck in a gear and revs high until I put it in neutral that seems to be the only problems I know about. Yours sounds like a clutch issue maybe it's slipping pretty bad but the 6l80 isn't very strong and has issues with stock power. It's hit and miss time for the 4l80 swap.

I think you can pretty much forget about any warranty work, I really doubt GM will pickup the tab with with the mods.

Well there is case law on the warranty issue. They must prove that the cause was the supercharger. If they give me that BS, then I'll get an attorney to send them a letter requesting a diagnosis from a mechanical engineer stating such. That would cost them even more that just fixing it. I'm not saying it would work to my benefit, but i'd try that befor giving up.

What are the differences? Any modifications needed for the swap?

Probably has a lot to do with the ratio jump from second to first gear. 4:1 is a hell of a gear to just drop into.

It's not that hard there's a great write up on here the at details everything just put into Google 4l80 swap 2010 camaro the thread was started by diet coke. There are a few things like notching a spot for the harness not that bad though but there's enough aftermarket out there that it's to easy not to do. Compared to the cost of rebuilding the 6l80 and the strength of the 4l80 no question it's a good idea.

I would asume that you had the ECM tuned after the supercharger install and should have had the TCM tuned also. First thing I would do is contact the shop that did the TCM tune and let them take a look at it.

I'll look into this first. Never thought about that. The car has 41k miles. Not sure with the charger as I purchased it used with 38k miles. As far as loosing with the attorney letter, not really a whole lot to loose by trying.

Thanks for the replies...

GM won't have to prove anything.... they'll just deny fixing under warranty due to mods.

I would take it to several transmission shops and see what they say. Dealerships rarely fix transmissions unless it's something simple like a solenoid... they just replace the whole unit.

It also feels like it goes into nuetral as it down shifts into first. The other day I slowed down to make a turn and in the turn it went out of gear. Then when i came to a complete stop, POW, it kicked into first gear.

Have a good tuner check it. The tuner can make all the difference in the world
