Stupid guy at the GM dealership

Just wanted to share my story with you guys..

I dont know how such people work in such places!!

My story is gonna be a little long (sorry for that), but it’s worth reading.
In our side of the world we are still waiting for the new camaro to arrive. I am a banker, and being responsible for the second largest GM dealer in the country, I got to know that they received two camaros and they are at the port customs now. So I went crazy about the news and immediately called the dealer’s head of treasury, where the following conversation happened;

The dealer: do you want the car for your self.
Me: yes.
Dealer: what color?
Me: yellow (and I didn’t say “Rally Yellow” just not to confuse him :-p)
Dealer: AHHH.. you are Transformers…
Me: ……….

Then he told me that the cars are still in customs, and they received red color only. He also said that they didn’t finalize the pricing, but he will get me an amazing discount… etc.. Everything was going great until he said:

Dealer: do you know that the camaro we got is different??
Me: I said how different?
Dealer: different than the camaro you know..
Me: is it different specifications?
Dealer: different in everything, now it looks like a Mustang, its not like the previous camaro that you know.
Me: I know the camaro has a new shape, it’s like the ones GM already started to deliver in the US and close to the concept in Transformers.
Dealer: I don’t know which one delivered in the states, but its different..
Me: you know what, I’ll just wait until you receive them and then we talk.

And I ended the phone call…

How can a guy in such senior and critical position lacks the knowledge and communication skills, I DON’T KNOW…

I surely hope that you find an alternate route to shop for your camaro. Saudi Arabia is still on planet earth. That fool is not. Best of luck to you!

It is amazing how salesman have no clue about the cars thy are selling.
Now it is confirmed it is a world wide problem.
In spite of the salesman being an idiot I hope you get your "yellow" Camaro.

well, you got to remember he is in the finance dept, not the sales dept.... Even then, it is a toss up.

I can't stand it either. If i was going to be a car salesman, i am damn sure going to try to know everything about what i sell

If I'm not mistaken, didn't GM having training classes for their salesmen about the cars they were going to sell? If not, they should. I won't even get into the fact that the vast majority of them know nothing about the allocation process. Can you imagine how nice the buying process would be if all salesmen made the efforts to educate themselves like Camaro Scotty and others on this forum like him?

YES THERE WAS A GM TRAINING AND ALL OF THE SALES REP AT THE BROWNWOOD DEALERSHIP WENT TO IT WHY THAT DOES NO ANYTHING IS BEYOND ME. I WOULD FIND A DEALER THAT HAD TRAINED SALES AND FIN GUYS OR GALS THAT CAN HELP U THREW THE PROCESS ATLEAST NOW U WANT HAVE TO WAIT LIKE MOST OF US AND U CAN USE THIS FORUM FOR WHAT NOT TO DO.

They just wont understand that you could actually know more than them about the item they are selling.. and because we shouldn’t know more than they do, they start to act confident in what they say which will make them look even more stupid.
