So are you guys saying to just pry or pull the center speaker up from the dash? Or am I mis-reading the posts? Would like to give this a shot, but would also want the option to reconnect if I decide too.

First you have to remove the center dash piece, you dont even need a tool, I was able to lift it up with my fingers and push up to release the clip from the dash. To get the speaker out there are (2) 7mm's you gotta take out, after that its smooth sailing. Once you get the speaker out, there is a clip you push in, then just pull the connector out. Totally reversible.

Any problem with an amplified signal with no output device that may damage the amplifier? You will have a yellow wire to nowhere. Would you disconect your home audio speakers and crank up the volume?

There is no effect on the amp. the Yellow and Blue wires are fine as long as they to not come in contact with each other or anything metal in the vehicle (that would cause a short and this could damage the amp.)

disconnecting a speaker from your home system would not have a negative affect on the amplifier either.. as long as there is not short in the wiring. would be very similar to the outlets in your home that have electrcity running to them all the time whether there is anyhting plug into them or not.

Done! Great video of the removal process here:

took all of 5 minutes. Definite improvement in "stereo" sound & also my bass seems to
have increased, had to turn the EQ down a bit Love it though, now to just get a sub in the trunk & I will be set.....Thanks for all the help

Who knows how "sophisticated" the amp in the trunk is considering how small it is. For all we know, removing the center speaker could free up a few more watts that the amplifier can now push to the other speakers in the system.

Most amplifiers don't act this way, but you never know...

I'm not entirely sure how to "test" how many watts are being pushed to each speaker, but it might be an interesting check if anyone with the tools and know-how was bored

I don't either? Since the BA amp is a 5 channel its not going to add any dB

to the level of sound. I do understand that it will make the "Stereo"

effect better. I guess I will try it after I install my sub tomorrow.

I don't understand why a center is in there anyway.

Now in my Acura TL Type-S the DVD-Audio true 5.1 system kicked

A$$. What an awesome system, just wish it had more juice.

Well, I removed mine and there is a difference, for the better. Drastic improvement? No, not IMO. You can tell stereo separation better. Such an easy thing to try though, might as well give it a shot. I disconnected the connector from the center speaker - no wire cutting in the trunk

Humm...Now that the center speaker is gone, that would be a great location for
a dual gauge pod, instead of the A-pillar location that some have concerns about
interfering with the airbag.
